You may have first heard this track as a B-side on Something for Kate's 2000 single, 'The Astronaut', taken from their second album 'Beautiful Sharks'.
The version that appears on that release is a relatively sparse arrangement driven by acoustic guitars and a propulsive bass line. There are no drums other than a rolling percussive rhythm that was pounded out on an empty water cooler in the studio hallway.
What you may not know is that 'Born Yesterday' was actually born years earlier in 1997 while the band were rehearsing for their debut album, 'Elsewhere for Eight Minutes', and in its original form it is a far more electrified and abrasive affair more typical of that album.
It never ended up being recorded in those album sessions but we are happy to share with you this 1997 rehearsal recording of the song in its earliest form.
Enjoy!
