Wolf Children: Beauty, Pain, and Purpose - The Patreon Cut

Hey all!

This video took a little longer to upload than I was expecting. It's not especially worth going into why, but long story short, icy weather makes a lot of things rather difficult. In any case, the video is here now.

This version is a little bit different from the final version you'll be getting. But it's nothing especially significant, nothing I think anyone but YouTube's copyright system would notice.

Wolf Children is one of my absolute favorite movies of all time, and I'm so glad to have finally gotten to talk about it. I hope this video resonates with you on some level.

Thanks for pledging!

You're about to make me start crying with this. This is exactly what I want to achieve with every video, and I'm so glad you appreciate that element of it.

Hi! I’ve been watching your work for a while now (my first was your COMMUNITY video essay which I’ve safely seen over 50 times now). I’m sure you get a lot of praise for your analysis and writing of these works (as you should) but what I love hearing most from your videos essays is the sheer, unabashed love and respect and admiration you have for the stories you cover. It’s more than just the kind of analysis film school professors ask for; you see the bright spots of all these mediums and varying stories and why they may be important to others and why they’re particularly important to you. It’s like hearing a really good friend talk about this thing they love so much without putting down anyone with conflicting opinions, there’s no pretentiousness, it’s just “hey, this brilliant story helped me feel less alone and I want to talk about why. If it helps you feel less alone too, then that’s fantastic.” Your videos mean a lot to me and as you grow as an artist and writer, I’ll excitedly follow along knowing your stories will be lead by an undying love for storytelling and the power it may have on its audience. :) — or maybe I’m overthinking but wanted to share this anyway!! Thank you!!
