You require two colors of yarn, one for the main background colour (B) and one contrasting colour (A).
Terminology: all crochet terms used are U.S.
Technique: Overlay Mosaic crochet bottom up, the Envelope Border in the round.
Yarn: Scheepjes Stone Washed
Yarn weight: Sport. Ball weight: 50 g, yarn length:130 m (142.17 yds).
Gauge: 10 stitches in 5cm (2”) by 5 rows in 5cm (2”) in dc stitch pattern.
Using a different gauge won’t affect the design, but it will change the finish size and the amount of yarn needed.
Hook 3.25 – 3.5 mm. Hook size needed to match the gauge.
- For fringed blanket without envelope border. Yardage approx. 4000 meters of Sport weight yarn for each of your two colors, which is a total approx. of 8000 meters of yarn.(4300 yards per colors, a total of 8600 yards of yarn, 1500-1600 g for each colors)
- For the blanket and envelope border. Yardage approx. 4600 meters of Sport weight yarn of color A and 4700 meters of color B, which is a total approx. of 9300 meters of yarn. Of this amount, approximately 700 m of color A and 650 m of color B for the WS envelope border. (5040 yards of color A, 5150 yards of color A, a total of 10190 yards of yarn, 1750-1800 g for each color. Of this amount, approximately 700 yards of color A and 650 yards of color B for the WS envelope border)
Size: 150 cm wide and 210 cm long (59 inches wide and 82 1/2 inches long).
The use of other types of yarn can greatly affect the amount of yarn needed.
