Haha i had a similar experience with a rusty filler neck except my rust hole was at the bottom of the neck and one day i was fueling up and the bottom just gave way... fuel everywhere by the time i noticed lol Damn rust!

Ahh, good times. πŸ™‚ This reminds me of a rust bucket I once owned. I dreaded any minor job because there was about a 75% chance it would involve breaking bolts and the M6 or M8 tap coming out. I made the mistake of telling the gas station attendant to "top it off" one time and fuel started spilling out all over the ground. Turns out both the fuel tank and the filler neck were swiss cheese on top. Looking forward to the rust repairs and sheet metal patching!
