First outing on new TT rig

Finished the build at 10:12am. Sign on was at 10.30am! Ok so it wasn't quite finished - the cables weren't cut and capped, the rear brake wasn't great but the gears were precise and with 30kmh wind gusting 55 it was a fun little 10 mile TT to shake down the new build. Felt so good to get on a TT bike again and the custom PT cockpit was solid. So chuffed with this build. In total cost me about 2.2k gbp. Sold the old one for 1.9k. Some more special wheels coming very soon! Cheers

HI Berni, very interesting question as I have recently been going through the same process! I have a new 9Velo disc wheel here, it is completely hollow, and impressively light. It seems to be one of the new breed of ultralight discs that until now only Lightweight were making. As you say, Zipp were making foam and honeycomb core wheels for a while but they were quite heavy. The old disc wheel i used to ride was by Farsports, it was ok but was not true! I have asked 9Velo to supply me with some more ISO testing data before i ride it...

Thanks PT, I’m a victim and just made same crazy decision to spend money for a rim brake bike…Hope I can soon see some vids on wheelsets for the bike, at the moment I’m tending to get a disc wheel and a trike spoked wheel, decision needs to be made between Farsport and 9velo, but not able to judge the products without holding them in my hands. Nevertheless it was till now a horrible search as there are different types of disc wheels on the market with technologies inside: - honeycomb - foam filled - hollow unibody construction From an Engineering point to me foam filled and honeycomb sounds a bit strange for a bike wheel, but these are still the most spreaded ( and mainly cheapest, looking apart from DT Swiss, Zipp etc.) wheels still in the market. But no one is really commenting on pros and cons of different technologies. With the background as a petrol head of my younger me I want a fast and loud disc wheel. Maybe you will some some comments on that, if not, also fine. Cheers, Berni
