Stellar Incognita Factions - Secura

Secura is a faction in STELLAR INCOGNITA that Sagacious-6 faces more than the actual Sol Unity. While Secura and the Sol Unity can almost be used interchangeably, they are not the same. As mentioned in the opening of STELLAR INCOGNITA, Secura is not able to operate in the Unity Proper but only in the Stellar Incognita, where GAIA’s neural-net cannot reach. The easiest way to describe them is that they are private security contractors and their largest client is the Sol Unity in the Stellar Incognita.

They have a similar color scheme to the Sol Unity (blue and white) and are led by a CEO (Commander Valoria). The weapons they have are advanced, but not more advanced than other factions that are out there. They draw their operatives from ex-Sol Unity military and have their own training program for raw recruits. In heavy combat situations, their ace in the hole are ARX-10 heavy combat units, which is powered combat armor used to take on fortified positions. They also have formations of hover-tanks, but these tend to be lightly armored in favour of speed and firepower, considering their typical opponents are most likely to be irregular formations. Their fleet is not large by Unity Proper standards, but they do have the largest fleet in the Stellar Incognita, although their flagship is only a light cruiser. They also have some escort carriers, but these are leased to the Sol Unity for use in a reserve fleet defending Access Hub.

The basic ship in the Secura fleet is the ‘sloop’, which is only lightly armed and serves more as a transport. While not formidable in a fight, they are fast and more than suitable for the basic policing and transport needs of Secura para-military squads and Sol Unity colonists. Their basic fighter is a fighter-bomber which is a jack of all trades craft but a master of none. With limited resources, this isn’t a bad choice, as it gives Secura a wide amount of operational flexibility.

At this time, most of Secura’s efforts are directed at combatting Tenebra, which is the largest breakaway human faction in the Stellar Incognita. Neutral space is where most of Secura’s attention is focused, where they seek to increase the size of Unity-controlled systems while shutting down the more lucrative trading and smuggling routes that help the Tenebra war effort. As part of these ongoing operations, Secura has established listening posts throughout the neutral space and at the furthest edges of Unity-controlled space.
