Peek: A Day in the Life of Tiny
Added 2023-09-18 00:03:48 +0000 UTCAs the sun rises, Tiny enjoys a few minutes to simply bask in the warmth and to gaze upon the weave. The sunlight almost seems to make the possibilities sparkle like dew on the ephemeral tapestry of Fate, and it makes him appreciate his attunement to that particular affinity all the more.
He can't spend forever appreciating it, though. Truth be told, he can barely take a few minutes before he needs to get down from atop the maze and prepare to the delvers to run it. Most of the routes feel right, but he has a nagging need to reroute the best path to the ebony tree past one of the chests. That particular chest has been seeing less use, so he should make sure the delvers can harvest it.
If they can get past him, of course.
It doesn't take him long to change the path with a few webs, and as he works, a jumping spider joins him. Despite the fact that Tiny stays mostly in the maze, he's not cut off from the happenings around the rest of Thedeim, nor even the happening in Fourdock and beyond. The myriad arachnids are all incredible gossips, and with how diligent they have to be against the smaller invaders, there's at least one within reach of every denizen and delver in the dungeon.
They listen as they work, and they even hear the reports that Poe receives from the expeditions, and are all too happy to keep Tiny informed. And so the smaller spider idly chitters as Tiny works. Apparently, there's a bit of drama unfolding among the aranea. While they don't want to give pairs of socks, there is a growing argument that giving a single sock is no reward at all, and therefor unfair. None have gone so far as to give two socks for a single quest yet, but some have decided to sidestep the issue and not give *any* socks, and instead give other woven items. Still, the debate is ongoing.
The small spider eventually makes its exit and Tiny gets to work playing with the delvers in his maze. Other spiders show up through the day with more talk, and Tiny gives his own bits of gossip about the delvers in his area. As the day continues, Tiny occasionally looks up at the ceiling of webbing, wondering if Vernew will visit today. Norloke and Folarn will often visit around dusk to chat and ask for his guidance with the enclave, but Vernew likes to visit and either chat while Tiny chases delvers, or to just watch. She's much more of a free spirit than the other two of the Spiderkin Triumvirate.
A thread of the weave reminds him why she probably won't be here today: she's busy training and teaching. With the looming threat of the mystery dungeon Aranya came from, she's been rather busy testing and practicing with the new variety of spears. Similarly, he doubts Folarn will be available tonight. And without the other two, Norloke is unlikely to visit, and will probably be tending to the upkeep of the enclave.
As dusk settles and Tiny closes the maze, he considers what to do with his evening. Tonight... he decides to visit Larx and the ratkin enclave. He's not as close to them as with the spiderkin, but Larx especially has a sharp mind and interesting insights on both the weave and The Weaver. Teemo would probably prefer not to join, but Tiny can still listen, and Larx is very good at reading his reactions.
And after the ratkin leader retires for the night, Tiny thinks he'll spend some time in the library. Honey may be absent at the moment, but her bees are still diligent in recording and organizing the knowledge there. The history books are especially interesting to the large spider, and with his Fate affinity, he sees the truth in a bit of wisdom that has drifted through the bond with Weaver Thedeim:
Those ignorant of history are doomed to repeat it. Having older examples to work from, Tiny can more accurately read the weave, and more importantly: help The Weaver avoid making old mistakes.

Just need to tell them that a good pair of socks should be connected, not with a thread you can see, but with a thread of fate. Making them one item.
