Harry Potter, Hero of Legend, Stories and Elves

Voldemort was pulled from his thoughts as a blue skinned figure casually strode into the dining area wearing a pair of Hawaiian shorts. He flicked his wand as he chanted "Avada Kedavra."

"Gesundheit," the blue figure replied as he gestured and turned the incoming spell into a dead dove that flopped onto the table. "Let me make you a deal, I am a being of not inconsiderable power and I have need of a human soul."

Voldemort stared at the dead dove that used to be his death curse for a couple of seconds then focused on the figure. "I happen to be quite attached to my soul but if the offer is right, I'm sure I could find an acceptable donor."

"Excellent, I just need your permission to lay claim to a certain hyphenated child that I believe you would rather be shut of,” the Genie said with an evil grin. “I have a wager with some friends on exactly how long a mortal soul will survive in a land filled with demons and since the boy seems to have unusual luck… I’m betting on five full days before he meets his end, either from his own bad choices or his luck finally having run out.”

"Let me get this straight, all I have to do is say the word and you'll sweep Potter out from under Dumbledore's nose and send him to a world filled with demons where he'll die within five days?"

"That's the deal," the blue skinned figure replied with a shrug. "I’m quite well known in certain circles for the sudden absence of heroically inclined individuals."

"If that's the case, why haven't I heard about you before?" Voldemort asked.

The genie rolled his eyes. "You didn't need me before, never use a death spell when there's a true prophecy in play and a simple brick aimed at the soft spot in his developing skull would have rendered it all moot."

Voldemort glared at the blue skinned figure for pointing out something that should have been common sense. "Fine, get rid of the child and leave," he commanded, not interested in fighting someone that could casually deal with an unforgivable. 'Even if it doesn't work, this should keep Dumbledore busy.'

"Excellent, I am your hand in this," the genie replied and teleported across the street from the old Black family home, leaving Voldemort momentarily in shock because the phrasing matched the prophecy and causing a pleased smile to grow on his face.

'At least the stupid idiot gave me permission to toss his soul fragment out of the world where it will die,' he mused as he pulled his cell phone out of his pocket and called one of his associates that had been searching for a hero. "Hey Mac, this is Frank. Have you solved your little demon problem yet?"

"You know I haven't," Mac complained. "No one wants to fight a demon army for pocket change and a knock off system, especially when it comes with an insane lust boost because of the curse."

"Did you lead with the fact that they get to fuck an entire country filled with hot elves?" Frank asked, a touch surprised that Mac hadn't managed to at least lure a couple of idiots to the realm to help deal with the curse.

"Yeah, I had a few guys that were interested right up until I mentioned that the Demon King managed to cast a spell to redirect all incoming portals to a dangerous location and that I could only boost the hero and not the companions outside of some of the cheaper lewd perks," Mac complained.

"Don't worry about it, I've got a hero that needs a vacation and a place for him to blow off some steam but thankfully I have a girl that made a wish," Frank explained.

"What's the catch?" Mac asked suspiciously.

"What makes you think there's a catch?" Frank asked with amusement.

Mac snorted. "I know you, there's always a catch."

"Fine," Frank replied with a grin, knowing Mac would jump at the chance to have some competent help. "Someone in another realm might have wished for a porn video starring this particular hero and his friends."

"If you make a joke of the war, I'm going to hurt you," Mac warned him.

"Not my intention," Frank assured him. "I was just planning on slipping an invisible floating camera through a portal into the world to document his adventures."

"You're just tired of coming up with random plots," Mac argued.

"Do you know how fake most of that shit looks?" Frank complained. "There's never any panache and everyone ends up looking at the camera. Look, I'll even toss in a couple of magic items and cover the cost of the hero's special magic skill."

"Fine, what do you have?" Mac asked, figuring the less magic he spent boosting his hero, the more he'd have to keep the demon king from being able to send his entire army at once.

"Three wizards, two witches and a carpenter," Frank replied, looking forward to seeing how things played out.

"A carpenter? Why do I feel like this is the punchline to a joke?" Mac asked.

"No clue," Frank lied. "Just look at it this way, sending another magic user would increase the number of demons the Demon King can send and everyone needs moral support."

"Are they going to fly off the handle about the fact that I can only give the hero the good stuff?" Mac asked, knowing that had been the deal breaker for half of the groups he'd checked.

"Nah, they're pretty solid and the carpenter has experience dealing with this sort of problem," Frank replied smugly.

Mac teleported an orb of power to Frank, knowing he wouldn't screw him over, at least not when it actually mattered. "Set everything up, give the hero the power and send them to my world. The demon king's spell should do the rest and I have a couple of companions lined up."

"Not a problem," Frank replied cheerfully and ended the call. His smile slipped a touch as he put his phone away and studied the corrupted ball of magic that would empower anyone that absorbed it. 'Nasty curse, every generation would have gotten more lustful and depraved until they're worse than the demons and cleansing Mac's 'gift' would have seriously reduced the power he could give the hero, which might be enough to let the demons win.'

'Even if they won, it would have taken years to cure his descendants, leaving the realm vulnerable to another invasion. Yeah, fuck that,' he thought as he used his magic to twist the curse so that the unnatural lust would latch onto the darkest part of someone, 'enhancing' the quasi divine curse rather than directly fighting it.

Frank teleported the ball of power into Harry, causing the hero to scream as it burned information into his soul and flooded his body with alien magics. He watched the curse search for the darkest aspect of the hero, barbs of vile intent and poisoned persuasion encircling and latching onto the diseased fragment of a foreign soul in Harry's scar, increasing the fragment's lust for flesh and power to the point where it'd have trouble thinking about much else. "That's the problem with curses, there's always a loophole," he muttered as he watched the curse infest the soul fragment like maggots on a rotting corpse eating away at the corruption and greedily pulling any traces that had seeped into Harry’s mind into itself.

"Now onto step two," he said as he snapped his fingers, sending Harry and his companions to his pocket dimension along with his ringer where he could explain things.

"Shit," Xander Harris cursed when he found himself standing on a twenty foot stone platform that was floating in a void with five unfamiliar strangers, one of which was curled up on the ground in pain.

Sirius pulled his wand out of one of the pockets in his robe and focused on the one eyed stranger after realizing that he was the only person he didn't recognize. "What's going on?"

"No clue," Xander replied as he studied the strangers, trying to figure out if they were cultists or just unlucky victims like himself since only two of the five people weren't wearing robes. "I was on a bus and the next thing I knew, I'm standing on a platform…" he trailed off as he noticed the large pentagram carved into the platform that almost touched the edges of the platform. "I'm guessing some type of summoning spell."

"What makes you say that?" Hermione asked, finding the entire situation strange as she'd been having dinner before Harry had started screaming in pain and they'd ended up here.

"The giant pentagram is a pretty good clue," Xander replied.

"Is Harry alright?" Neville asked, trying to figure out what was going on since he'd been having dinner with his grams before finding himself on the platform.

"He's fine," Frank offered as he appeared out of thin air sitting in a lawn chair that hadn't been there a second ago.

"Liar," Harry grumbled as he twisted around so that he could see the blue skinned figure wearing annoyingly bright shorts, happy that the pain seemed to be fading.

"That's the spirit," Frank replied with a grin.

"What's going on?" Hermione asked, not sure what to make of the blue skinned 'person' that was probably responsible for their situation.

"Long story short, I'm a hero relocation specialist," Frank replied smugly. "I send heroes where they need to be and arrange training if they don't have the skills they need to save the day and get the girl."

"What type of training?" Harry asked, figuring he could probably use some actual training since his classes weren't particularly geared toward heroics.

"That depends on the hero," Frank replied with a shrug.

"That explains Harry, what about the rest of us?" Neville asked, not sure why he'd gotten dragged along.

"Glad you asked," Frank replied cheerfully as he gestured toward Tonks. "Tonks is the responsible adult, Sirius is the mentor figure that will probably get killed heroically saving his godson, you're the trusty sidekick and Hermione is the sexy librarian girl."

"Sexy?!" Hermione sputtered out, not sure how to feel about that part of the description.

"Responsible…" Tonks trailed off when she realized that she was basically the responsible adult by default since Sirius couldn't really be considered responsible and the rest of the group weren't adults.

"And me?" Xander asked.

"You're the ringer," Frank replied with a smirk.

"Ringer?" Xander asked in surprise.

"You know that guy the manager brings in that slips under everyone's notice, but knocks the shit out of the champion?" Frank asked.

"I understand the term, I'm just not sure how it applies in my case," Xander admitted.

"One of my friends is a minor god, Mac oversees a world filled with attractive fantasy elves that is in the middle of a demon invasion. He's not allowed to directly smite the demons which means he needs to bring in mortals to fight the demons, with me so far?" Frank asked.

"Sure," Xander agreed.

"Elves? Like house elves?" Neville asked.

"Not even close," Frank replied as he conjured a picture of a group of hot blondes with pointed ears in traveling clothes. "Every time Mac pulls someone into the world he weakens the barriers around the world, allowing the demons to send more powerful demons and giving the Demon King a small window to influence things, if he's willing to burn the power."

"And you're hoping that you can slip us in beneath his notice?" Xander asked.

"Or at least concern," Frank replied as he let the image vanish.

"So, you basically want us to fight a war?" Sirius asked warily.

"Yes," Frank agreed. "But I'm not asking you to fight a war for free, Mac's world has a decent collection of useful and powerful magical items that you'll be able to walk off with and Harry is going to get a significant boost to his power."

"How significant?" Harry asked as he got to his feet.

"That depends on how many demons you kill, your main power is basically a game system that lets you increase your stats like a video game character by using demon souls like experience."

"Is there a limit?" Hermione asked, thinking about some of the video games her parents had.

"From the basic system? Ninety nine per stat, which means that he could get about a hundred times as strong as he is currently or agile enough that you could run up a chain in a hurricane while juggling grenades. A hundred times your vitality, you'd be damned hard to kill for anything in the wizarding world and a hundred times your magic… let's just say I've seen gods that would be jealous."

"That would make dealing with Voldemort easy," Harry mused, seriously tempted.

"What's the catch?" Neville asked.

"The catch is that if you accept the mission, you're not leaving until the Demon King is dead and you've saved the elves from extinction."

"We have a choice?" Xander asked, trying to figure out what type of 'person' they were going to be working for.

"I'm not a monster, of course you have a choice," Frank assured them. "You can choose to walk away and other than some pain as I rip the system and the new magic out of Harry's chest, you'll be none the worse for the experience. I just think that you'll get a lot out of this little adventure and if you succeed, I'll have you back before anyone realizes you're gone."

"I'm in," Xander offered, knowing that the kids were going to need some competent help, since Tara was about the only magic user that he knew of that had any degree of common sense. 'And if I get some magical trinkets, bonus,' he mused.

"I've got your back if you want to help," Sirius offered, looking forward to spending time with Harry, the fact that it got him away from his mother's screaming portrait was just a nice bonus. "It would certainly make killing Voldemort easier."

"Do you think we have a chance?" Tonks asked.

"If you're smart and careful, you've got a decent chance of surviving, especially if you swap to a support role after the first couple of battles," Frank assured them.

"It would be nice to have something we can actually fix," Tonks admitted, tired of working for the ministry since they didn't want to actually fix anything, since the bribes and privileges they received made them feel important and special.

"I've got your back," Neville assured him.

"Always and forever," Hermione told Harry.

Harry glanced around at his friends to make sure they were serious then turned and looked at the blue skinned man. "Let's save a world."

"Excellent," Frank replied with a grin as he snapped his fingers and gave Harry the magical ability he'd promised Mac he'd give him, causing Harry to get a notice on his heads up display.

"Huh, I got a message," Harry admitted, not sure how he was supposed to open it.

"That you would be your new power and some gear, don't open the message until after the first battle, I need to slip a couple of things past the Demon King and it's a support ability." Frank looked at the rest of the group. "On that note, we're out of time, try not to die, you don't come back to life, unlike Harry."

"What?" Harry asked as he quickly picked his wand up off the floor where he'd dropped it when he'd appeared.

"You're a hero, check your power list and inventory when you get a chance," Frank replied with a grin then snapped his fingers and teleported Harry and the rest of the group to Mac's world along with the camera. "This is going to be awesome."

"Shields!" Tonks ordered when they appeared in the middle of a ravaged clearing, surrounded by hundreds of short waist high demons that had mouths filled with shark like teeth and glowing red eyes.

"Protego," Neville chanted without hesitation as he moved his wand in a circle, putting his recent practice with the Defense club to use and creating a shield in front of him.

Hermione cast her own shield charm, not sure what to expect from the creatures other than pain and suffering if they got close judging by the number of teeth they had.

"Does anyone have any extra weapons I can borrow?" Xander asked hopefully as the rest of the group created barely visible shields, protecting the group from the incoming barrage of firebolts some of the demons were tossing at them.

"Maybe," Harry replied as he tapped the cabinet icon on his heads up display with the hand that wasn't holding his wand, bringing up his translucent inventory page filled with gear and a realistic looking doll of him off to the side that was wearing a copy of his clothes. "Daggers or axes?" he asked when he noticed the stacks of weapons in his inventory next to the set of ruby armor, ignoring the less suitable weapons for the moment like the boomerangs.

"Axes," Xander replied, figuring they had more weight to them.

Harry quickly tossed Xander two of the mithril axes, finding it remarkably easy to remove things from this inventory.

"Thanks," Xander replied as he adjusted his stance a bit as he prepared to make the demons regret getting close, despite the fact that he was fairly sure they were all dead unless one of the magic users could pull a rabbit out of their hat.

"Hold the shields, I have offense," Tonks told the group as she worked on tossing blasting hexes at the demons, trying to drive the demons away or at least hold them off while they tried to figure out a better solution.

One of the human sized demons near a tent in the middle of the largest group of demons shouted, "Minions! Charge!" causing most of the small demons on the other side of the group from the human sized demon to charge.

'Way too many,' Harry thought as he grabbed one of the bombs in his inventory, causing a metal sphere to appear in his hand as the smaller demons charged the group like a horde of demented and mutated children that had been told that the first twenty children to the finish line would get a piece of cake. He almost dropped the bomb when he had a flash of insight and he suddenly understood exactly how to use the bomb and just how nasty it was. "Ignite, three seconds," he ordered and tossed the bomb at the demonic commander as he had a dozen human sized demons with him along with a couple of hundred smaller demons with swords and shields that seemed to be waiting for the rest to soften them up.

"What was that?" Sirius asked.

"Bomb," Harry replied as he grabbed the armor icon in his inventory and dropped it into the armor slot, causing the ruby almost crystal like armor to appear on him as if he'd carefully put it on. "Close your eyes."

Hermione closed her right eye and shifted so that she wasn't looking in the direction that Harry had tossed the bomb.

Xander raised his arm to cover his eye a second before the night turned to day as the strangely quiet bomb unleashed hell on earth.

Sirius turned and stared in disbelief at the quidditch field sized area that was covered in purple flames that seemed to eat everything organic or at least demonic. "What the fuck was that?!"

"Celestial Fire bomb," Harry replied as he swapped his wand for an axe then grabbed an axe for his left hand. "I'll be right back," he told his friends and charged the surviving demons, knowing that his enchanted armor would protect him from the cannon fodder.

Xander took a step to follow Harry then stopped when he realized that Harry had magical armor and that guarding the casters would be better.

"You insane…" Sirius trailed off as the armored figure started hacking through the demons like they were extras in an action flick. "We should probably help."

"Harry's the only one that gets anything for killing them," Hermione reminded them as she took a step to the left so her shield also covered Sirius so he could swap to offensive magic.

"Can you conjure some barricades?" Tonks asked as she silently worked on blasting the groups of demons that were trying to flee, scattering them and breaking limbs rather than outright killing most of them..

"Good idea," Sirius replied and started conjuring temporary barriers, trying to limit the number of demons that managed to escape.

"When did Harry get that good with axes?" Neville asked as he watched Harry cut through the fleeing demons.

"It's probably part of the upgrade," Hermione mused, fairly sure he'd never used an axe before coming here. "Then again, he killed the basilisk with a sword."

'We would have been screwed without that bomb,' Xander mused, fairly sure the numbers would have overwhelmed them despite the shields and the offensive magic they were using. 'I need some better ranged weapons.'

Neville smiled as his shield stopped a couple of firebolts from hitting Tonks, giving her the chance to blast another group so that Harry could catch them. 'I might not be the hero of the story but I'm pretty good support.'
