{UNCUT VERSION} Our Genuine Reaction to BTS 'The Truth Untold'

Comments

I've always felt emotional hearing this song, but I cried when I heard it in concert. I don't know if it was the engery from ARMY, BTS or both, but my heart & soul just poured out. The story behind this song is heartbreaking, but even if you didn't know it or the language you can still feel the emotions from their singing & performance. Be well and God bless you all! 🙏💜♾

Yes! I came in the comments just to see if someone told the story behind the song. Such an amazing heartache of a story but also a lesson right on a surface. If you hide due to your insecurities you will never fully live or love. No one will have the chance to fully accept you if you don’t give them the chance to have the opportunity because your fear and insecurities stop you from revealing that true you to anyone. I’ve been through a lot in life and can say it taught me a lot and I realized that I put my worries and need for acceptance above being myself out of fear of rejection. The fact that we are conditioned by society, media, entertainers, models, etc to make us believe we are flawed in abnormal ways and then consciously or unconsciously pick ourselves apart and then transfer those thoughts onto strangers or even family/friends is awful. What’s worse is even if you know this and know you’re doing this, it is so hard to change or stop doing it. Loving yourself is an easy concept but accepting yourself is harder. I know I went on a tangent but thank you for sharing the story behind this beautifully sad song. 💜

Really can’t wait to experience this in person one day soon!

Hope you read TRJs_fan account of the true story behind this song. When I first heard it, without subtitles, I thought it was about BTS trying to interact honestly with the world, their fans, and about them trying to find their own true loves, and it tore me apart. It was heart-wrenching. When I learned the true story, and watched it with subtitles, I was a BIT disappointed that it wasn't about them, but still, what an achingly beautiful story! And please google other live versions of this, there is one performance where JK's vocals are even better than this one! Borahae!

This is my favorite vocal line song. Even when I didn't know what it meant it made me tear up. You can just feel the strong emotions of all four singers. This one really gets you in the feelers. :)

Thank you for the uncut version. Love you guys and love this song. <3 Y'all posted this on youtube about the same time BTS's commencement speech went up. I'm not getting anything done, lol. https://youtu.be/AU6uF5sFtwA

The Truth Untold goes hand-in-hand with Fake Love and that whole theme of being afraid to show your true self in case you are rejected by the person you love. This is what happens when you get into a relationship filled with untruths to begin with - just to impress or keep your new love. After awhile it becomes impossible to keep up the artifice because you know that the longer you go "faking" who you really are, the harder the fall will be when you finally reveal your true self. The word in Jimin's verse referring to "ugly" means the ugliness we sometimes hide inside, the insecurity we feel, dishonesty and self-loathing...not feeling good enough. The insecure person will feel "not good enough" to the people he/she wants to impress. This is a powerful, beautiful song especially in concert when you can feel the raw emotion. The boys perform this right after Jin's "Epiphany", when he finishes his song at the top of the steps and the other three rise up on a platform to meet him before they walk down. The combo of these two powerful songs back-to-back is a killer because we're already weeping from joy during Epiphany. By the way, speaking of Fake Love, BTS released today as part of Festa the dance practice for the incredible full performance of Fake Love for the 2018 MAMA show, which was so darkly lit by Mnet that we couldn't see the magnificence. Now we can. You MUST treat yourselves and watch it!

To those who didn’t know, THE TRUTH UNTOLD is based on “La Citta Di Smeraldo” It's the story of a man who lived in a castle and kept himself because he thinks he is ugly. because of his look he received a lot of hate and cruelty. He never opened his heart to anyone. His only happiness is to bloom flowers in his lonely garden. One day, a woman came near his castle and picked his flowers. He was angry at first but eventually became curious and secretly waited for her to pick his flowers every time. Later then he found out that she was actually selling those flowers for a living. The man fell in love with her but he didn't want to show himself, he couldn’t do it because he was too “ugly”. He keeps hiding behind his “mask” (lyrics: you know that i can't show you me give you me). So he decided to grow a beautiful flower that didn't exist on the planet so she could sell it in an expensive price. a flower that “resembles” her. Eventually, he managed to fill his garden with that beautiful flower and waited for this woman to come, but she suddenly stopped coming. He then learned that she died. the only woman he fell in love with has died without him grasping the chance of confessing his love. The last part of the song “if i got the courage to stand before you, would everything be different now?”.. if the man had removed his mask, and honestly revealed himself and confessed his love to the woman, would there be a chance for their love to bloom? To fully love a person, you have to accept your flaws and love yourself first. let go of your insecurities, stop hiding behind that mask and reveal your true self because that’s who you are. It’s what made you who you are. You are not ugly, you are worthy of love.

That once stripped from your mask, that your flaws won't be accepted. Feeling unworthy of love, because deep down you don't accept your own flaws, you don't love yourself. But you yearn for that love.

You guys are awesome. I saw them in Chicago last year and they sung this song and I was blown away. Their voices are so powerful and so emotional. I've been to a lot of concerts and no one sings like the Vocal Line.
