MOB OF THE DEAD - CRAFTABLES 09/02/24
Added 2024-02-09 18:00:08 +0000 UTCThis week on Mob I've been working on the framework for craftables! They're both fully implemented and work perfectly, the Acid Gat kit and the Zombie Shield! They're set up as shared inventory meaning that once all parts are found you can craft them regardless of who found the part (this will stop people griefing in public lobbies). I've done the same thing for the plane craftable too. You're also able to build each craftable at any bench you would like as you can in the original map, many custom maps have craftables only able to be made at specific work benches so I'm happy I managed to get this functionality working!
You may have also noticed a few smaller additions in this video, the first being the inclusion of gobblegum machines. I've not yet fully decided on whether or not I'd even like them in the map however I've decided to get a head start on testing them all so it's not left too late. The biggest criticism I got from Call of the Dead was that certain gobblegums were banned, this wasn't from me gatekeeping them, it was because gobblegums were a pretty last minute inclusion and many of them went untested for a long time and they ended up breaking the game in pretty drastic ways. Due to this I've put gobblegums in now so if I did decide to include them in the map, they'll all be fully tested and hopefully no major bugs will arise because of it!
The second thing being new Icons for the player characters! My friend Chens has been working hard on doing new renders for the in game icons as well as a new preview image for the menu! The HUD is something I've not yet touched but I'll be doing a lot of work on it in the later stages of development (once all the main features are implemented) I'll be keeping the BO3 HUD for the chronicles conversion mod that will go side by side this map, however I'm still not decided on what HUD should go on the main workshop version of the map, I could do the bo2 HUD and have this be a direct bo2 port of the map or make a new BO3 style HUD with bo2 influences, similar to the 2017 Mob remake! That's a good idea but I may just have them on either way, I have no issue with including them they're just very buggy to get right lol, If I can squash all the bugs with them in a reasonable timeframe then they'll be on the map for sure, if people don't want them they can just not use them at the end of the day lol

2024-02-15 23:23:04 +0000 UTCdobby has offered to let me use his bo2 hud for this map along with all the weapon remasters they're doing for die rise. The weapons I for sure want to use but I'm not sure if the hud will really suit it all that well but we'll see. I might do a poll for stuff like this sometime in the future to see what would be preferred, either BO2 hud or a brand new one

2024-02-15 22:55:01 +0000 UTCSince you still haven’t decided whether to add gobblegums to the map or not, why not just make them a choice in the (mod menu/bo3 guns addon mod) If you end up going for that idea.

2024-02-15 19:48:57 +0000 UTCI think something like the 2017 MotD might be good, with a lot better quality images ofc. bo2 bottom-right-corner and afterlife symbols with bo3 grenades, ammo count, points etc. Perhaps Dobby's bo2 hud/ranking mod might suffice?
