We’ve received a fair amount of questions concerning our video making process. It all begins from the moment we pick up the camera to film something interesting. We have four different cameras to choose from, depending on the situation we’ll grab the best suited one.
Angles, audio, sunlight direction and amount, movement, placement…There’s a ton to think about when trying to get a decent shot. Now that we’ve captured the moment, we take the memory cards and download them onto one of our many hard drives so we can begin organizing the footage for upcoming videos. This allows us to have space on memory cards to capture more footage in the future.
Then the fun begins when Jeremiah sits down to edit a video. He’s there in the same spot for days. A lot goes into editing, it’s very time consuming. We purchase royalty free music to use in the videos, he usually works for about a week putting it all together.
He takes on the complete role of editing all the videos from beginning to end. This is the only part that I don’t share the workload, I’m usually taking care of all the other things on the boat like Rhys, cleaning, provisioning and so on. I provide all the voiceover in the videos which has become easier over the years. Once voiceover is complete he’ll continue to edit until it’s ready to preview. We’ll sit down together and watch each version, YouTube and Vimeo and then select a title and thumbnail together.
A little update as to where we are now: We are anchored right outside of Cinnamon Bay on St Johns where Kenny Chesney’s house (past house? Not sure if he still owns it actually) sits in front of us. We’re currently playing his playlist of music off of Spotify. The song Old Blue Chair talks about this bay and how he’s watched boats sail in and out of it. Pretty neat!
We’ve checked into the BVI’s and have John on board for a week of fun filming with him! We can’t wait to share all of our shenanigans with you guys!!
Love,
Brittany
