Comments

She is adorable!!

Mandy Cane Lane

Is it just me that's starting to find sian adorably cute πŸ˜…

Josh sloan

Wahey I get to watch this before the episode you watched in the wrong order πŸ˜πŸ˜‚

Josh sloan

I don't think we will ever know that actually. But if I figure it out I'll let you know! Btw - I didn't go 10,9,8 on the episodes as well. I'm not completely crazy :) (Or play the episodes themselves backwards..)

Terje FlΓ₯gan

I do love when you go to swear in public after something bad happens and you have to save it by going β€œSHHHHHHHHH-UT THE FRONT DOOR!” πŸ˜‚

Jonathan Davies

Great minds and all that🀣

π‘π’†π’Šπ’”π’•π’š 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆

I really hoped someone would say this lol as soon as she mentioned it I said "that's just a tension sheet" lol

Lee Dellbridge

Someone said they did! That is such a cool repurposing!!!

Mandy Cane Lane

I love learning them! πŸ€— I personally find "shut the front door" and "bless your cotton socks" too funny

Mandy Cane Lane

I was unimpressed by the colored toilet paper because I have seen pink toilet paper upclose and personal before, but sinse the red bubble wrap was new to me, it blew my mind 🀣

Mandy Cane Lane

I can totally see him reading out a task, looking confused, then looking at Alex and going, "This must be Thursday. I never could get the hang of Thursdays." πŸ˜†

paul

Haha, yes, I didn't mention it so far but I was also totally getting Arthur Dent vibes. Mostly the dressing gown but also the slightly dopey "not quite sure what's going on" demeanor. He needs a Ford Prefect type to look after him! πŸ˜‰

paul

Wow that's not good. I'm certainly glad you were OK. The world is a much better place with you in it 😊 just look at all the comments you get from people who think you're awesome

Josh Read

He does. He's a good character and when he's in his dressing gown he reminds me of Arthur dent from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Rusty Dog

Hahaha, and we're here for it Mandy!! πŸ₯³

paul

I'll find out where they live and twat the cunts πŸ˜‚

Joshyboiiiiii

When you do get round to her youtube videos you are in for a treat. 😊 stupid people giving her a hard time.

Josh Read

You're right Mandy I must have gone temporarily insane and hallucinated from sheer excitement... they're not using the Z word and we're not noticing the non existent subtitles, got it! πŸ™ˆπŸ«‘

paul

Nooo we won 1-0 but yes it's football 😁

Joshyboiiiiii

Jeez a world without my future wife isn't a life I wanna live in, thank God you survived, did someone save you?

Joshyboiiiiii

Thank you Terje! πŸ’œ I am SO CURIOUS as to why you decided to watch them backwards πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

Mandy Cane Lane

We find out in the xfm shows that a certain person from Manchester also stole from phone boxes... 🫣

paul

Aww!! Look at you Joshs getting along, so cute! πŸ₯° -- There is probably a lot of weird things you guys don't know about, I am going to go with sharing that I drowned once as a baby. Almost died. And now swimming is of my favorite things ever πŸ˜ƒ

Mandy Cane Lane

😬

Mandy Cane Lane

Well every season there has to be an underdog, but Paul plays that roll beautifully and with complete dignity!! πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ€—

Mandy Cane Lane

I love all this! Confused on the world's smallest pub though, haha! πŸ˜…πŸ€£

Mandy Cane Lane

Ohhh, I would love to have one in the garden I don't have yet!!! πŸ€—

Mandy Cane Lane

That is so fun, thank you for sharing Jason!

Mandy Cane Lane

I have no idea what sport we are even talking about, so score is tough, but I am going to assume Football and say 2-1 πŸ˜…

Mandy Cane Lane

Hahahah, this will be fun to see!! Thank you Robert πŸ€—

Mandy Cane Lane

Awww, I love that!! We have nothing like that in Argentina anymore because everytime people tried to, someone would just steal everything. πŸ˜…

Mandy Cane Lane

HAHAHHAHAA!! I want you guys to see the world through my eyes!!! Lol

Mandy Cane Lane

Also thank you Stevie!!

Mandy Cane Lane

Hahahhaa, what ever are you talking about Paul? 🧐 None of my content has captions πŸ˜…

Mandy Cane Lane

Lmao to all of this! 🀣🀣🀣🀣

Mandy Cane Lane

I would love to promise it will never happen again Lee, but I can make no such promise πŸ˜…

Mandy Cane Lane

Unfortunately not, at the start I wasn't sure if watching at the same time would spoil future Patreon vids so I haven't seen any YouTube vids since her undertaker Mick Foley hiac vid when I believe she got rinsed by the horrible wrestling community 😏

Joshyboiiiiii

That's good going. Have you checked out her youtube channel? So many more awesome things to watch.

Josh Read

I've never watched Sherlock Holmes ngl and tbh I'm nearly all caught up on here, I only watched taskmaster then went from her very first vid about 3 months ago I think and I'm only 1 month behind now πŸ˜‚

Joshyboiiiiii

Good stuff. I'm related to Jeremy Brett who played sherlock holmes for years. That's pretty weird I would say πŸ™‚ you been OK then Josh? There is alot to catch up on Mandy has many videos. Have you checked out her drawings? She is talented in so many areas

Josh Read

Anyone idm, I didn't expect other people to answer, I only started cause I was miles behind on the content and just wanted to learn more about her but yeah anyone can answer

Joshyboiiiiii

Can anyone answer your questions or are they just for Mandy?

Josh Read

As for red phone boxes..they still e dust but most been reappropriated..I remember during lockdown there where plans to put defibrillators in them which was a great idea imo

Jonathan Davies

Mandy is learning a lot of British phrases..you could say she’s finding them easy..a piece of piss

Jonathan Davies

Hiya Mandy, I love you too!!! 9:11 Mandy: β€œI love that the more he complains, the more he gets screwed over!” Lol damn right, comedy gold 🀣 9:25 that was some clever Telephone Box gardening trick where Alex watered the Telephone Box and in 3-4 stop animation frames it really appears to grow out of the ground, no special effects. Well, I believed it 🫒 12:11 Mandy (from 0 to 100 in under 5 seconds!): β€œπŸ€” I’ve never seen colored bubble wrap … πŸ˜ƒ I didn’t know that was a thing! 🀯 Cool! πŸ€ͺ” I now wanna take you shopping to a stationery store, and watch you blow your mind, again and again 🀣 over all the different colored papers, boxes, and even whiteboards πŸ˜€ Not to mention all the unusual widgets you never knew you needed… actually, there’s a brand called Joseph and Joseph, they sell household items, and I’m consistently impressed by their innovative designs, every item’s been uniquely constructed with utility and ergonomics in mind, so there ya go! Cool! 15:26 Mandy: β€œQuestion question question, real question” Apparently public phone boxes are still a thing in the UK, they’re not all red, but there’s a rule: β€œthey cannot remove a public phone box if it’s more than 400 meters from the next one”! 18:02 What’s Alex poking his head inside the phone box anyway! Them’s weren’t in the rules! 29:51 Committing the order of the cards to memory! I once did this with a regular pack of cards, there’s a special order taught by Juan Tamariz and used by magicians called the Mnemonica deck order. It appears to be completely random, not in any way sequenced by suit or value like the taskmaster deck, and memorising this order can be used for phenomenal card magic tricks, if I had bothered to learn any 🀣 All the good magicians will have learnt this deck order, and will be able to answer random questions about it, eg what’s the 10th card? Which card comes before the 9 spades? What’s after 2 diamonds etc I had it down to a tee a few years ago, have completely forgotten now, but I reckon it’s still there in the old noggin 🧠 34:55 Sian then Mandy: β€œPiece of piss” it’s a great phrase isn’t it, usually spoken with the utmost confidence πŸ˜„ I do enjoy its appropriate use, cos everything’s a piece of piss really πŸ€“ 41:14 Mandy: β€œWhat is that big white thing? That big white bird?” In front of Paul? Is it a bird? It looks to me like a sheet of paper, maybe he discarded his task? 49:36 Coloured loo roll Mandy!!! Come on, that’s quite impressive! πŸ˜ƒ Cool! 56:30 Yeah David Mitchell hosted a rival show, comedians doing tasks in the green outdoors not too long ago called Outsiders, he play the Greg role in a blatant spinoff concept - I wouldn’t rule him out though! His wife might be encouraging πŸ˜€ You got the pitch about right, squeaky fun, now try laughing like that! πŸ˜† Awesome awesome awesome Ta Mandy G

𝖦𝖺𝗋𝗒 π–¬π—ˆπ—‹π—€π–Ίπ—‡

Hey Mandy. Another great one, thank you! You brought many big smiles upon my face with this, and quite a few laughs as well :) This is the season where our watching met, if that is a way of saying that.. Last year I had the brilliant idea of starting from season 14 which might have been the latest at that time. For some reason I didn't think I was going to like it, but I really did. So then I started going backwards when you started on season 1. (A system that almost destroyed my OCD-light brain I might add.) A few months ago I realized that you were going a lot faster forward then I thought you were going to, so I stopped at season 8. But turns out: It's a lot of fun watching it again! This time with your expert commenting :) Now we have S9-S14, and then I have kept away from S15-> Looking forward to every single episode! And BTW, here in Norway we also have zero phone boxes left with actual phones in them, and 99,99% (my very careful calculation) of them have been removed. But we do still have some boxes in Oslo (and maybe other larger cities), that like someone else here described, are uses as a place to exchange books (get one, leave one - or just get one, that's OK too I think).

Terje FlΓ₯gan

Random question of the day, what's the weirdest thing about yourself that I don't know?

Joshyboiiiiii

The red phone boxes do still exist, mainly in central london.. a lot of them smell of pee though 😷

AWR93

Love you too Mandy, because you make ME feel good. Red phone boxes are dotted around. One a few miles from me is a small library/book exchange thingy. Nice. A 'portion of piss' is a new one on me which I might have a use for :) A piece of piss is just something that is easy, but you might have figured that out. I believe Greg said the phrase on this one and then Joe repeated it. You were wise in picking squeaky Sian. Well done on that one. I think Paul can still win the series.... if every task from now is a memory one. haha. Well, 3:45am now. I might be time for sleep soon.

Rusty Dog

The red phone boxes were mostly replaced with boring 'modern' ones in the early 90's most of which are gone now. Some of the old red phone boxes are still around, or have been restored and put back. Some of them are still phones but a lot of them have been converted for other uses. A lot are now used for defibrillators because they're usually in populous areas and already have a power connection, which is needed to keep them charged and prevent them freezing so is a good option for emergency equipment. Quite a few operate as mini libraries and community share stations, where you can drop off books you've finished so others in the community can read them after you, or food packages for people in need. One was turned into Britain's smallest pub, so yes they're still around but alot without phones in anymore. And yes David Mitchel has said he wouldn't do taskmaster, but his wife Victoria does make an appearance in a future series.

YearRoundHibernater

Regarding phone boxes, i definitely know they still exist in London and I guarantee they only exist there for tourists. In my town I don't think we have any phone boxes left, but I could be wrong, I know i saw some had been turned into wi-fi hotspots but that was a while ago now. There was a time when you could buy the iconic red ones to put in your garden but im sure those are well sold out now.

Ajayrious

There used to be the red phone box near Liverpool that the band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) used as their band office when they started their career in the late 1970s. They even wrote a song about it called "Red Frame/White Light". There have often been campaigns to save it as a culturally significant item, such as in 2017, but I don't know its current state.

Jason Webb

My prediction is that the match will be abandoned in the 27th minute at 0-0 due to excessive dog muck on the pitch. I hope you have a good evening anyway, even if the match only lasts 27 minutes.

Jeffrey44

Another random question Mandy. Score prediction for the Sunderland vs Leeds game that starts in 88 mins at the stadium of light? I'm walking over to the match now ( ano if you reply it will have finished hours ago πŸ˜‚)

Joshyboiiiiii

May I suggest you check out Red Dwarf - The Rimmer Experience. It's only 3 minutes long.

π‘π’†π’Šπ’”π’•π’š 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆

The first time it's referred to out loud as the Knappett is in S11, but I think it was S9 where they put a plaque on the front with that name

Robert Allen

Maybe, I have to say though, I do know a few women who enjoy it. There are millions of clips on YouTube. Check one out Mandy and let us know, just to satisfy our curiosity.

π‘π’†π’Šπ’”π’•π’š 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆

In the area I live in red phone boxes are used as little libraries. You take a book and bring it back when finished or leave one in its place. In the little village I used to live in the phone box was used as a way to help people struggling during covid. Dry food and cans were put in there for people to take if they were struggling to buy food. It was called the kindness kiosk.

Josh Read

... and I'd never really thought about the maleness of it, but let's face it, Jeffrey has a point!

paul

Yeah, I don't think the sci-fi-ness is a problem either. I'm not really that into sci-fi myself unless it's also comedy like Hitchhikers, Back To The Future, Bill and Ted, or just a belter like The Terminator. I just wonder if Red Dwarf is a bit... old school. The studio audience, the "loser" characters, the bleak situation...

paul

It's hard to say Paul, Mandy has surprised me a few times with her sense of humour (In a good way). It's Sci-Fi, but the comedy is so well written, you don't have to be a Sci-Fi fan to enjoy it. I mean, who would have thought an American living in Argentina would be in hysterics laughing at a bald man from Manchester? Maybe if we ask nicely, she might watch one in the new year as a late Christmas present.

π‘π’†π’Šπ’”π’•π’š 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆

Thanks Mandy for taking the time to pause the video and patiently point out to us where Ian's bum was lurking, like some demented adult version of Where's Wally! Heaven forbid that little nugget might have passed us by! ; p

paul

It's one of my favourite sitcoms Stevie, possibly my number one British sitcom of all time. I'd love to see Mandy react to it one day but I'm not sure if it's her cup of tea. What do you think?

paul

I'm not going to get my hopes up too much, but who knows, they're four funny guys, maybe it will be amazing. Well done on getting the original up on youtube. Now Mandy can watch it without being busted by the captions! ; )

paul

It's possible, he's had 40 years to write it. But then again two of them are in their late 70's and Harry Shearer is 80. Can't be any worse than the crap they churn out nowadaysπŸ˜‚

π‘π’†π’Šπ’”π’•π’š 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆

Yeah I heard Rob Reiner mention that on Richard Herring's podcast a few weeks ago. Do you think it will be any good? I hope so...

paul

Mr Burns going through the metal detector is just brilliant. Did you know they are making a sequel?

π‘π’†π’Šπ’”π’•π’š 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆

I think it's probably my number one favourite comedy film. Airplane possibly has more laughs per minute but there's a few misses mixed in amongst the hits, and I love Withnail and I but that's sort of comedy plus melancholy. Spinal Tap is just perfect. The authorities said, "best leave it unsolved." : >

paul

This Is Spın̈al Tap is amazing. I put it on YouTube, I was surprised they let me... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SrRKbR3T5o&list=PLFYLJKOJCy4jTdaXBTdJJc6QaALa9pg9G&index=6&t=2583s

π‘π’†π’Šπ’”π’•π’š 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆

This Is Spın̈al Tap is a classic case of the "rock and roll umlaut". Have you seen it Mandy? It's very funny. Technically it's not British Comedy, although the characters are British, so maybe you could justify reacting to it on those grounds. For me the most shocking thing about this video was finding out that you hadn't heard the phrase "piece of piss" until now!! ; P

paul

Red Dwarf. Red Dwarf. Red Dwarf. The two guys above are taking about Red Dwarf! I recognise it from the things that they said. They are saying things from Red Dwarf. Red Dwarf is a man's programme (or show as an American would say) about men. It covers topics of interest to men such as spacecraft, time travel, parallel universes, highly evolved humanoid domestic pets, robots, sarcasm, comedic and/or perilous situations, holograms and lady holograms, computer chess, computer and video games in general, death of a parent or parents, male grooming, Adolf Hitler and being tongue tied. A woman could watch Red Dwarf if they were in the company of a man, e.g. a boyfriend, husband, brother or Father etc. but they probably wouldn't enjoy it if they watched it alone as it isn't really made for them.

Jeffrey44

It's a classic show. I watch it regularly when I need to destress.

π‘π’†π’Šπ’”π’•π’š 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆

Haha, I do Stevie. Just rewatched that episode a few weeks ago as it happens.

paul

Also, I realise you will have no idea what I'm on about, some people will lolπŸ˜‚

π‘π’†π’Šπ’”π’•π’š 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆

That wasn't red bubble wrap it was a Tension Sheet. The Tension Sheet was a stress relief aide invented by Fred "Thickie" Holden, one of Arnold Rimmer's schoolmates at Io House. "Thickie" was an incredibly stupid person, but managed to come up with a simple idea for making money. He patented the Tension Sheet, which was just bubble wrap painted red with "Tension Sheet" printed on it. Users would pop the bubbles to relieve stress. The invention made him a millionaire by the age of 26. Oh, by the way we love you too Mandy. I think an excited puppy is the perfect way to describe you. Thank you as always πŸ’œπŸ€—

π‘π’†π’Šπ’”π’•π’š 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆

We love you too Mandy! I have been waiting for this one because I like to watch in order so I've got double episodes to enjoy today.
