Feels like holding a baby! An expensive one too ...
Thanks to your support, I did something I wouldn't normally do and that is getting an overpriced, high-end piece of hardware.
This stuff has its place of course, but usually I'd buy something that gets me the best value for money.
One of the advantages of using a GPU renderer like Redshift (as I do) is that upgrading is as simple as swapping out the graphics card. Another advantage is that you can simply add the new card to the old one and just run both.
Unfortunately, when I built my system in 2012, I didn't have multi GPU in mind, so I neither have the space, nor the cooling, nor the power supply to run two GPUs.
I might upgrade to AMD's Ryzen in the future, but the fact that their r7 line allows only two GPUs in the system, is a real damper. I'm currently hoping that either their server grade CPUs will be affordable or that Intel lowers their prices significantly.
Anyhow, this was still a worthwhile upgrade! The scenes, I tested, rendered about 70% faster than before. Scenes, which were limited by my old 970's measly 3,5gb Vram, now render more than twice as fast.
I'll let it render one of my old animations overnight to see if any problems pop up.
Thank you guys so much, again!
PS: Symmetra's body rig is done and I'll work on the facial rig today.
