It's beefy!

My friends, here's some progress I made until Friday. As it turned out, the tank is actually quite big! Assembling the hull was more fun than the track sponsons because there was much more variety in details and also, no repetitiveness.

You'll probably spot that at some point I said "Screw realism" and just went with the flow, adding interesting stuff where I found it suitable. After all, when you think about it, the tank would either have no room for the engine compartment or no room for the crew :D

I also considered an anti-slip surface on the horizontal parts, but I'm afraid it would cover quite a large area and it would interfere with my painting and weathering efforts later down the road, so I'll probably pass on this idea.

It seems that the majority of detailing on this model will be only about adding textures, enhancing and adding some panel lines, replacing and adding more bolts, and adding weld beads. But that's fine!

Today I'd like to finish the turret and then it's just about the sponson-mounted weapons, and a crewman figure!

It's beefy! It's beefy! It's beefy! It's beefy! It's beefy! It's beefy!

True. Very much possible

Tim Malinowski

I didn't even notice that until you pointed it out! I'll have to create all those effects with paints :)

Night Shift

It was quite exhausting even in this scaled-down version :D

Night Shift

RP Toolz punch and die set :)

Night Shift

Textured heavy, just as we like it. But, one thing I noticed. In your reference picture, there were long, deep scratches along the side from operating the vehicle and crashing sideways into things. Will you implement these as well?

Tim Malinowski

Cool, I’m liking it

Charlie phillips

I think adding the Nonskid would be kool.

Doug Kinder

When realism gets screwed, have fun instead. It's weird, I have no interest in this kinda thing right now, but having been here for a while now, I'm still looking forward to where you go with this. Even with just the welds cut marks and armour texture it looks less like a toy and more like an afv.

Paul Garrity

All these little details make this boy great, of course we will continue to follow this story and look forward to the next step.

Danny Jeurissen

That's a lot of Rivets!

Gordon Brice

This already looks sick. For the anti-slip surfaces: look how they did it on the front section of the Leopard 2 A4 tanks. They only covered little rounded rectangular shapes not the whole area. that could work as it's not too much, but something.

Wow. the armor texture makes such a difference. The Beakies (Space Marines) have a mag lock function in their boots. So it's very unlikely they would bother with non slip on their vehicles.

Shane Thomas

I would not want to be the guy who's job it was to fabricate those flame-cut shapes on the top side edges!

Looks great! It may be unrealistic but that's what the fiction part of sci-fi is anyway. Think of it as a remote controlled WWI variant. As with any break from armor modeling (or any modeling for that matter) it is fun to see what you bring into another genre which may bring something new and exciting!

RelentlesStorm

Love this. And love when you conquer kits outside of your usual period or genre. Very inspiring!

Rick

Wow, that good! At first, I wasn't very intrested, but now I'm starting to think about buying one!

Solomon Hollowell

He’s using a punch and die set to make them.

Sherminator

Remind me: how do you make your rivets? Can’t remember what you said about this some years back.

Den Howlett

Fun, fun, fun. Looks great πŸ‘

Kevin SKB118

It looks phenomenal! Would love to see you give a Rogal Dorn tank a go 😁

Mark Carrig

Looks dapper Martin, watch this for inspiration: https://youtu.be/ykSQHvcfJSU?si=fnRu9QUXkIAXZfmx&t=1194
