Let's get this show on the road

My friends, yesterday I started working on the Warhammer 40K Sicaran Battle Tank. I did a full assembly on one of the sponsons where I tested ideas and approached it more like a concept. Then I duplicated each step on the second piece.

I had to figure out what to modify and how much should be changed. First of all, these tanks are made up just to look cool - that's the entire point. There's not much realism in them, and it can be hard to get over that fact when you're used to historical tanks with logic and reason behind every bolt and weld bead :D

Still, I removed every rivet from the surface and replaced them with simplified bolts, but in places where they make at least a bit of sense. Some of the original details were simply put in places that would otherwise look too plain, such as bolts holding absolutely nothing, just randomly sitting on the surface.

There was also the question about flame cut markings on the thick plates. I decided to find a balance here because otherwise the entire tank would look like a razor saw - there would be just too many jagged edges :D

Anyway, the plates for the sponson-mounted guns are not yet detailed because they are seamlessly integrated into the hull, and that's what I'm going to assemble next.

As for the color scheme, I'm going with Imperial Fists because they have a nice color palette of black and yellow.

And do you know what else is black and yellow in real life? CAT bulldozers! So I'm using dozers as a weathering reference (see the last image) and I'll probably even use them as an inspiration for the scenic base :)

Very nice work

I only saw the game on a modelling show, but I never played :)

Night Shift

Exactly, these vivid color palettes always contrast so well with the weathering!

Night Shift

Dope!

Jason Shiskowsky

This is going to be interesting to see where yo go with this. Fantasy tank based on CAT heavy equipment. What's not to like?

Paul Garrity

Awesome! Can't wait to see what you do with the kit. Do you play? I play Orks and Orruks so it's always nice to see some of this mixed in with historical modeling. Would love to see you build a Stug III, 234 or Merkava. Just saying

Jeff Price

Rivets, weld lines, and and cast texture . Definitely upping the details in the 40k world there sir. Hole new genre just opened up for ya!

Bob Yack

Oh my…glory of glories!

Rick

I can already tell that this is going to be the best Warhammer tank ever built.

HAJ

Can't wait to see how this turns out. I found your channel while trying to learn better weathering for my 40k vehicles. It's also very satisfying to see that you're complaining about the same things I do. Lol. If you had gotten an Ork vehicle your head would explode.

Love the command and conquer reference hehe. (Not sure it is intended). Really build some Sovjet/Russian style fuel tanks on the back. That just improved the whole lot in terms of realism and looks more badass. Excited to see the yellows. Though hopes you would step out of the regular colour pallets and go for something truly wild! Anyhow just my thought. But enjoy!

I have no interest whatsoever in fantasy wargaming, but i’m super excited about this. It already looks dope.

And Games Workshop can’t figure out why the sales of the Sicaran tank have suddenly doubled πŸ€”πŸ€£πŸ‘Œ brilliant work so far this will be good πŸ‘

Daniel Brooker

Watching this with real interest. πŸ‘πŸ½

*desire to know more intensifies*

Good idea of the yellow and black coloring that will have a very good contrast with the effects of rust, earth, dust and oil As always you can give your own style πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

I'm excited to see you working on a 40k Model and choosing the colour scheme of my favourite chapter! :)
