Wednesday Addams what the heck kind of fencing club is this?

Have I watched this through more than once...umm...no, but it's going up tomorrow (i.e. Wednesday) so it had to be done. If you spot any weird transitions or odd frames, do let me know. :)

Yay, a fight analysis? Well, more like an extended rant with some analysis thrown in. But I hope you enjoy it anyway.

It is the women's premium hoodie in charcoal! :)

Off topic but I need to know. Are you wearing one of your merch hoodies? If so what color and cut, I love it!

I took this scene as a prison film trope "make an entrance" scene, given the way that her entry into the school leaned with Morticia's "no escape to the relatives", the principal's "no escape to the town", and Wednesday's "can't hold me" comments. I had been told by friends this was a girl detective genre movie, and I had been very excited to see an Addams's lens on a prison film AND girl detective for at least a few episodes. Love me that cross-genre goodness. I was quite pleased with the series as a whole and hope it is followed by 'Wednesday's Summer Vacation', wherein art-boy's father doesn't show to pick him up and has possibly missed his last performance in San Francisco, Addams family U-turning to pick him up (A potential orphan, how delightful?), which leads to visiting with the werewolves, and then possibly the sirens from either a distress call or non-response to her roommates' texts. And, of course, her stalker. If all of that wrapped into some new common threat and the next school year, so much the better.

It actually seems that Nevermore would be less protective of the students since that fits their culture, at least as we've seen the Addamses behave. Let the students assess their own safety risk!

Writer: "We'll have a bunch of fencing scenes!" Producer: "Then we should get some advice from fencers." *pulls the nearest person on staff who attended a fencing club once in high school* Writer: "That works!"

nebosh certification studies have been begun

Ahh, See I had the complete opposite reaction... Context is key... this is an Addams Family series where Wednesday is going to a school that embraces the same philosophy as her family. If this had been done back in the day when she invoked military rules I would have expected the teacher to turn around and hand them each a broad sword.

ConvincingIllusion

Now you've got me thinking of a tier list but for movie industrial settings :D I wonder how many NEBOSH certificate holders there are on YouTube ...

XD I don't work in safety (do work law) but I don't know how many tv shows/ films I have watched and just thought... wow how is that place still open ... how are the parents ok with this ... my mum would have killed someone by now if I had gone there ... who are the adults in this place ... that's a negligence claim waiting to happen. it's actually quite funny XD.

Torchyc - Chloe

Torchyc_Chloe's comment and yours re. risk assessments and safeguarding struck a chord. Working in industrial safety, I agree that entertainment really loves workplaces that would be shut down in a heartbeat in real life.

As someone who did fencing for a while, I felt your impassioned bit about the saluting in my soul

Good idea.

I largely agree with Paul and would say that part of the interaction with the teacher, and his passivity, is attempting to illuminate how Wednesday cows adults in general. Later on when she runs into adults she can't do this to it's a notable change but up to this point she's basically run roughshod over everyone in her way, starting with her parents.

Is a spoiler warning at the top of the video possible, considering it tells the result of this fight scene?

Meribor

I took this fight as a comment/demonstration on the school's attitude to student upbringing. This is not a preppie school.

Negligence from teachers is becoming the norm in TV and Movies I've noted
