Alright friends, it's time to call it a day on this one!
I already started putting the video together, and it actually doesn't look that bad over there. We'll see what HD photos will do with it.
After I fixed the Sherman and blended the lower track runs with the ground, I went for a quick ride and looking at it again after returning home, I gotta say, I kinda like the result. There's a ton of oopsies on this base, which is strange considering how the first Syrian base went so smoothly, but I'm looking at it like this - the first base proved that creating terrains is a load of fun and can actually make the model look better, and the second base has shown us what can be improved - both in the tool department and also techniques.
I've been looking at the FAQ Diorama book by AK (written by Rubén Gonzalez), thought about purchasing it (at a hefty price of 80€, but hey why not support a good cause), but then I thought... what's more fun to you? Trying these "ghetto" techniques and finding out what works and what doesn't, or following a professional modeller, trying to replicate his methods? I don't know honestly, trying and exploring is fun, but often leads to these moments when you wish you've known this and that earlier. On the other hand, having someone with decades of experience guide you always leads to better, more satisfying results at a faster pace. So, what are your thoughts on this?
Anyhoo, I'll try to finish the video tomorrow, and before we move on to the next project, I'd like to film a workbench tour, if that would be okay 😊
