Soft and hanging

I imagine the first few pounds I gained were barely noticed. Then the next few, the ones that were noticeable, probably got brushed off. Maybe side-eyed with an amused sense of justice. The next few pounds would have been met with confusion, (what is he doing..?).
Then, I ballooned, and I truly don't know what people thought.
I hope they talk about me, that they're mortified for me. I hope that they don't really know what to say, that the shock of my full-body transformation has left them without words, eyeing me with secondhand embarrassment.
What would you say? If you knew me before. If I was your gym buddy, your fit friend, your crush, your fitspo? I want to know how you'd delicately address the topic of my weight gain, once I've fattened myself past the point of even being recognizable.
(most people know, but for anyone that's confused, I'm covering a tattoo)
