2022-11-30 04:55:39 +0000 UTCAside from Marvel wanting to get in on China box-office mania, the main reason for making this was that the three Iron Man movies had been trying to bring in Tony’s print-comic archenemy The Mandarin (not counting Ben Kingsley) who, as the intro explains, had built ten finger rings out of a rare element, that could match Tony’s suit powers…But they couldn’t use him, because the character used to dress in Fu Manchu robes, before going for an evil-corporate look. Here, Shang’s warlord dad is hinted to be Mr. M, and…boy, he sure does LOOK like a comic-book villain, doesn’t he? 😅 More proof that Asian audiences just don’t seem to “get” American comic books.
