2022-02-14 04:25:15 +0000 UTCFor those confused, the movie was an in-joke parody of 80's anime of the time, from the creators of the equally silly Urusei Yatsura series--The space captain, for ex., is a parody of Space Pirate Captain Harlock, who would toast his enemies with brandy during the battle. (And our captain would appear to be a bit well toasted...) While the "It's the Colonel!" movie was a shot-for-shot parody of 80's anime epic "Harmageddon" (widely considered the WORST anime feature ever made), where an alien robot was supposed to come out of the shadows.
