Status Update for All Patrons

Hello everyone,

Wanted to throw out a status update for everyone. I'm going to be testing out a release as I go strategy to see if it can 1) stop me from working on stuff I've already worked on incessantly, 2) build trust that I AM working on it, and 3) GET THE CHAPTER DONE.

I'm not sure what Patreon shows, but if you saw a $10+ post, that was simply the first (really short) release. I'll be updating releases about every 2-3 days. Save won't always transfer, content won't be that great, and I'd recommend waiting. So, you may not be missing much, honestly. Still, I value every pledge, and don't want to just post to some patrons and leave others in the dark.

Despite what is released, I'm still hopeful for an end of May, beginning of June release of chapter 1. A lot of the legwork is done. I still need to send Balduindrake some files and have him do some work on script compatibility. But, beyond that, it's all in my hands to get done. I'm moving all my mishmash of files, artwork, writing, etc. into RPG Maker. I definitely could have been more efficient in my first 3 months of full time, but I did have my second child... so, I'm going to lean on that a little. New kid is in daycare 5 days a week now, wife is back at work, I have no distractions beyond those of my own making during weekdays.

Thanks again for your patience through all my trials and tribulations. I do think you'll enjoy the game.

P.S. I will get involved in answering comments/questions this weekend.

Meh at least I managed to snag Prey for super cheap. Nightmare difficulty and bourbon wewwww

PhatsM

No news is bad news.

TheBob

Does this look like the face of hope to you

PhatsM

LOL it's cute that you think something is going to come out anytime soon.

Haven't you learned your lesson?

Miene

Dare we hold out hope for tonight?

PhatsM

You probably shouldn't be paying attention to his deadlines. At this stage they aren't really for us patreons, but for Yummy himself. He has stated he wants to get to the point where he is actually meeting deadlines and builds up trust. I think eventually he'll get to the point where he is meeting most of them (unless all of this is a clever ruse, which would be silly). I think most people are used to it now anyway, but the problem is Yummy in the past gave us a picture of a much more complete game. But now we're told that the reality of the situation is that most of it isn't even in RPGmaker. It's nice to finally know where he is at, but incredibly disheartening considering we thought he was much further along.

Cut him some slack. No one is forcing you to read the updates if you simply find them full of BS. The guy has had the misfortune of learning the complexity of a large scale game project. As much as everyone hates to hear it, 'its done when its done' is quite standard in this line of work.

Joe

The absurdity level of this process has moved past annoying and is now hilarious...which will dip swiftly back down to annoying once there's another YT post full'o'bullshit.

Kladran

I've stopped paying attention to any deadlines Yummy states. It'll get done when it gets done. Off to continue playing Persona 5 in the meantime!

Nobody forced you to put yet another deadline, YT (even if at this time, you really should do something about the state of the game)...but c'mon, this is like the 4th missed deadline of this week. This is just getting ridiculous.

MasterQi

I'm also kind of confused here. It seems that ultimately this month is going to be spent putting the final assets into RPGMaker itself. I definitely approve of the incremental releases, but I worry that a larger chunk of time is required to get everything in place. I suppose that the community discord will help a TON with communication, so I'm looking forward to that.

Miene

Taken from the Day one Turtle post back in October: "Still, a chunk of Chapter 1 is polished and ready to go". I get that things change and all the turtle shit wasn't supposed to be 100% accurate but it seems that after months of work you've only gone backwards. Wasn't the whole point of the first progress chart to show when things were done and ready to be implemented? Yet you've apparently only just reached that stage after doubling the amount of time you've worked on it. I want this to succeed but things aren't adding up and a May release just seems impossible at this point.

Here and still waiting

Cory Carson

"No Longer Thursday Club" report in, lads.

PhatsM

I raise to recognize this project since I saw on YT released is always: plan, plan, as well as some did not to live up to its commitments. When I got a few days before the released version, I feel, perhaps this is farce, because I can't see what progress.

THE_VEZ

I think I will give YT the benefit of the doubt and wait till the end of May... but come June I'm out and will leave - this is really getting too much. It's almost spoiling the enjoyment of the game, part of which is the anticipation of the release.

Rayne Knight

Lol, this is actually something that has been in the back of my mind for 6 months. How many people continue to stay blind sheep, and for how long. The only thing is, it should have been a monthly patreon if that was really the case.

Dumai12

Hmm interesting, so the end of May isn't completely out of the equation yet. Your 10+ patron post made it sound like you had canceled it completely and we were on another indefinite release projection. All you're really doing when you say it might be early June is extending your deadline to the end of June though. Instead of giving yourself more room for flexibility at this stage, I suggest giving it less. Announce, for instance, an end of June release date, but have your true goal be mid June, something like that. This "flexible" release scheduled just lets you push back your development forever, and with your admitted issue with procrastination, that's really bad.

Dumai12

So its June now...I got fooled, thought this time you will actually deliver on your promise since the whole "full time" thing got my hopes up. Meh, whatever, not gonna make this mistake again. As wise, perverted goblin once said: "You were the Chosen One! It was said you would destroy the lazy h-game devs, not join them! Bring balance to the porn, not leave it in dakness!"

Saigon

Thats what i've been saying. Also its not 10k$/6 months - as far as i know the first charge will be for playable fraction of Chapter 2 and thats at least a year from now with the way things are going. I see 3 possibilities: 1. YT will be forced to get back to regular job and treat Aylia's Story as a hobby. 2. He will change his Patreon to monthly charges but its risky since probably vast majority of patrons will cancel their pledge(i know i would). 3. He will fix his shit and start to release playable updates at a reasonable pace.

Saigon

What im still wondering about is, how are your finances going? Personally I would be unable to sustain a family without a steady income for that long. And 10k sounds like a lot, but it really isnt if you're only going to get payed every 6 months. So do we have to expect a change in the future regarding your very generous pledging-policy?

I'll play the "complete" beta, when the game is "done", to test for any remaining bugs in the final version, until then, I'll be patient. I support this game not only because it's a great erotic art, without nasty stuff, but because it fulfills a fantasy of mine. The "wow" fantasy. Every time someone exclaims "wow! An ELF!!!" I get a buzz. Some of my favorite movie scenes: The "SWEET JESUS!" scene from Star Trek: First Contact, and the "Flying Submarine" scene from X-Men First Class. I just love scenes that evoke the "wow-factor".

Maniac

I'm starting to suspect this is some kind of social experiment :P still my favorite thing to see updated though. Keep up the good work!

You can do this my dude. The gods of perversion are with you.

Admiral Cheesecake

I myself am going to try out the updated prologue, then (try to) wait til chapter 1 is fully released. It's been a long time coming, can't wait =D

DaBouncer

still excited.

Nine Horse Hitch

NP. Looking forward to seeing more as you progress. Turtles are slow, but they always win the race, especially if they are the ninja turtle variety.)
