Midweek Madness - Zalran Villagers Brainstorm

Hello everyone,

Yes, I know it is not mid-week, but this is my mid-week madness post for last week. My goal is to post something interesting every week. Whether it be a teaser, brainstorm, poll, whatever. I'll tag them "Midweek Madness." The first one was the Night Events brainstorm, and there were some awesome ideas there.

Originally, this was going to be the November poll. I'm going to cancel the November poll for a few reasons:

1) It's taken me a bit of time to design outfits based on the top 5 selections that I like. Plus, I spend most of my development time on the game right now.

2) Beyond the outfit question, I have a series of questions I'd like to ask you guys about the world itself. Yet, I'm realizing that it would be a lot better if I had the world map done to show you guys and if you had more of the game to play.

3) On that same note, a number of people commented in the last poll that it is hard to truly evaluate the questions without having a better understanding of the game itself. I never intended chapter 1 to take this long, so I never intended to run so many polls prior to its release.

Basically, once you play chapter 1, I feel you'll be much better equipped for these polls. Since I've no doubt the entire game will take me until at least late next fall to complete, there will be plenty of time to run polls along the way. Add in that I plan to start randomly selecting $20+ patrons again for in-game scene/event designs, I think you guys will get to shape the game plenty.

Still, I didn't want to not post anything (I've done that too often in the past), so I'm going to post another brainstorm, and then a lore post for this upcoming week's midweek madness. So, put on your thinking caps again!

Brainstorm question: As Zalran comes alive again, what villagers move in? This can be villagers who might have lived in Zalran in the past, or new villagers who have decided to move to this growing little village.

Background: A little background. First, Zalran is surrounded by three kingdoms (Kavidan - a militaristic, mountain kingdom; Trellion - a aristocratic naval power; and Escala - a rugged free city on the edge of the desert). Villagers don't have to come from those major cities, but that can be a starting point. There are plenty of little farms, hamlets, hunter's camps, etc. scattered throughout the land. Also, Zalran's development will revolve around your choices, but there will be a dark path, where slavers, raiders, etc. start to move in. So, if you're digging a more villianous type, that'll work as well.

Currently, I have plans for a blacksmith, a trader, a gypsy trader, a rancher, and a couple ex-bandits. But, I'm open to more ideas. If you really want to get creative, design a backstory for your villager. I am aware that this also might be easier if you'd played more of the game, but it should be answerable based on just what you've seen in the prologue. Plus, you don't have to play any of the game to design cool people you might like to see in a hypothetical h-game. In some ways, this is an opportunity for a $20+ level perk without pledging that much. I definitely take note of ALL suggestions and work quite a few into the game. Trust me, if you've been following along, I guarantee you'll see a number of events along the way that you'll be like, "Holy shit, I remember that suggestion!" Stuff like that is really fun to me, and it doesn't rely on fourth wall shenanigans, which I generally don't like.

So, suggest away! Then, you can take a break the next week or two, since I won't have another brainstorm for at least a few weeks--got other plans.

Midweek Madness - Zalran Villagers Brainstorm

Comments

Zalran's not going to rebuild itself, so maybe a practical woman who's a carpenter/builder, 10 years or so older than Triste and Kira. Maybe she came to ply her trade in the town at the request of a friend/relative who's a current resident?

I did not read your fortress of text... however the demon monkeys in your hair comment made me laugh so hard that I had to like this comment and reply, thank you sir.

Renmaru

Lazar the panty thief, he used to live in Escala but after stealing too many panties he became a wanted man and had to find a new home, Zalran gives him the oportunity so start anew, and of course still panties from new women

Furanky

A baker moves into town. She is curvy (not BBW) and cooks all types of baked, including special ingredients. She learned quickly how to use certain herbs to increase the hunger of any type (i talking about horny not just munches). She sets her sight on a type she never had before, one is elf the other is goblin. She so aggressive to Bogwort that he even feels off put, but with Aylia she goes for a honey approached. She spikes her baked good for Aylia and tricks Aylia into to an embarrassing situation with a strange new baked good of hers that she working on that is alcoholic but stronger than she thought and they both end up quiet drunk. As they want to eat while they go through the certent baked goods (either seems to recognize the type of her baked goods) until Aylia wants something a bit more doughy. Aylia wakes up with a vivid memory of the night wanting more of the read and the dough she had.

Nine Horse Hitch

As Zalran starts to bring more people a group of people who were apart of the academy but had a falling out. come to Zalran to teach the people against the wishes of the academy. They feel that knowledge is for all not those who provide coin. They try to get a school up and running for everyone. Depending on the condition of the city whether it thrives with knowledge and becomes a place of learning for all or due to having to constantly get funding end up "breaking bad." They could even get the witch to start teaching magic and making Zalran the Magic capital of the world/region.

Nine Horse Hitch

I would like to see the mayor making deals with the heroine to encourage new businesses to come back to the city. He could convince her to do favors for the new person to come to the city without knowing what they are setting up. One might be to work in a tavern with slimy Madam that try to get her to do more than work downstairs as a server. If there are corruption points then certain activities could increase those points. Another company could be a horse trader and need a groomer. trade in horses and needed a groomer. The more she does taking care of them the better reward she gets.

OhioOkie

I'd love to see a group of rapscallion youths who trick, blackmail, or guilttrip our heroine into exposing herself and later to giving them a bit of "play" in exchange for a quest item, protecting another NPC, or something of the sort.

Open suggestion microphone? THE DEMON MONKEYS WHO LIVE IN MY HAIR WILL HAVE THEIR MESSAGE HEARD! How about…a slightly older Kavidese - Kavendish? Whatever - soldier, maybe 40s to 50s, once known for his honor, generous spirit, and utter cluelessness about all things perverse or sexual, who is now quite down on his luck. He was forced into retirement by an injury which still slows and pains him, perhaps from when he once stepped on a mine in the line of duty. (An actual mine, as in a flimsily-covered shaft bored into the earth.) One foot and lower leg is a bit…muddled. Having lost his career and the only direction he knew in his life, he turned to distraction, becoming hooked on gambling and whatever illicit herbs / fungi / alchemical contrafibularities exist in the world to be hooked on, and subsequently lost everything. His friends and family were driven away, he became penniless and homeless, and was headed for a guttery grave. Until fate would have it that an old friend he hadn’t seen for years stumbled upon him, and out of a mixture of disgust, pity, and remembrance of the once-proud soldier he had been, gets him sobered up and talks some sense into him. Points him to a place not unlike him, once proud and vibrant, but now broken down and trying to rebuild. This ex-soldier arrives in town with a business plan, relying on his old military occupational specialty of scouting and threat assessment – he will use his knowledge of various creatures, plants, and so forth to harvest bits and pieces of them that people need for various purposes! People he knows, and can get in touch with, from his old soldiering days. All he has to do is get his mangled leg working properly again! But, uh, until then, he kind of needs a little help gathering some of these items. Which just happen to be related to getting near some H-related critters, or some amorous flora, or whatnot – but he doesn’t know about any of that, and is so effusive in his praise and thanks, and so generous with what coins he can get for the items, that one lacks the heart to tell him off for the risks encountered. He himself is never anything but unwaveringly polite, thankful, and as helpful as he can be to Aylia. If the story progresses down a brighter path, his business slowly becomes more profitable, he gets rid of his old demons of addiction once and for all, and eventually, he may even manage to regain the use of his leg - likely aided by exercise in chasing Bogwort down for various bits of mischief, helping others around the town with various tasks to pay forward Aylia’s help, and the like. If the story heads down a darker path, then perhaps business doesn’t go as well as he had hoped. What little he manages to make gets stolen from him, he himself gets shoved around and mocked by the rougher element around town, and so forth. His old habits come back, and at some point, he is found lying dead in a Zalran gutter, as punctuation to just how bad the area has become. On a lighter, less lengthy note, there could also be a couple of young, silly, free-love members of a weird nudist cult or sect that, for some reason or another, believes the elves were a beautiful, inhibition-and-clothing-free race that was cursed by the gods out of jealousy or something. Hearing about an actual elf sighting, they rushed to Zalran, and are incredibly confused when Aylia is seen wearing clothing and not necessarily singing, dancing, and copulating with virtually anything that wanders by her. She may be able to set the record straight for them about the Eliandre, or maybe they’ll get her to move a bit closer to their idea of what an elf is.

NPCs should look more smug

Curly

My only suggestion would be a female alchemist, whose potions are effective, but some of the ingredients are...questionable. Bonus points if she rewards the gathering of ingredients, either from out in the field or from a more personal source~

Denxa777

Yes, you'll be able to get away from Bogwort at times. You'll never travel outside of Zalran without the little, green bastard, but there will be plenty of h-scenes without him present.

YummyTiger Gaming

They can be potential vendors. They can be what you want. Ultimately, I reserve the right to modify them a bit to fit into the game, but feel free to suggest whatever you'd like.

YummyTiger Gaming

It doesn't for a variety of reasons. The primary reason for that rule is to prevent crowdfunding mini lottos or raffles for money. This have no monetary incentive. Also, Patreon prevents you from creating tier rewards exclusively based around raffle or raffle-type systems. My tier rewards are based around the game and access to that game at varying stages. The primary perk to the levels above $10 is access to the beta. It is something that I looked into, and if it ultimately caused an issue, I would change it. But, the customer service rep I emailed told me I'd be fine as long as I wasn't raffling monetary or material prizes--which makes sense.

YummyTiger Gaming

I just notice something. Aylia is an elf the only known elf and knows about pre-religious-council. She would definitely attract the attention of scholars. Could be there is a guild or acadmy of them. But they would send a scholar out Zalran even if it is just a rumor. All the potential for the unknown. But the scholar is a clueless women as in doesn't understand anything about naughty things first hand. Will she ask about everything even the eleven birds and the bees. Will Aylia tells her about them with her pride playing a big part. Bogwort also wants to be interviewed from the get go (even before the naughty talk).

Nine Horse Hitch

A traveling fiddler.

ArdenW

Ok, I thought about it and even though I'd have some ideas for character subquests and H-scenes (and more corrupt characters who could come later), I think I'll hold on to them for now. I'd prefer doing more detailed suggestions for characters that are well established within your vision, so it can come naturally with the setting. (For example, I'd like for there to be a bandit raid where the bandits kidnap all the women and you'd have to rescue them all except one who couldn't be rescued and is later found pregnant in a bandit camp/slaver town far away from home. But unless we see the townspeople and see which girl would be best for such role it probably wouldn't make sense naming which abstract character it should happen to :3 ) Also, I think Bogwort is enough of a generic mischievous pervert type of character, but judging by others' comments, people sure love their dirty old merchants :D

bigtotoro

Hunter or a growing group of hunters. Miners who plan to reopen the mine. Maybe a bath house keeper or a massage parlor or something similar. Fishermen who might accidentally fish up monsters of some kind or maybe make river-dwelling creatures or a deity angry. A magical toy/gadget-maker, crazy scientist or crazed inventor. Merchant caravan or a travelling merchant who might be in need of bodyguards. Overzealous guard or peacekeeper. Retired adventurer or soldier who could teach some techniques.

Systematic Chaos

A crafty merchant selling enchanted toys and some more or less useful gadgets moves in town. His enchantments work great on harmless toys, and they work just as great on sleeping girls. An intrigued Bogworth follows a 'sleepwalking' girl at night and encounters the pervert. They make a deal: the greedy goblin gets to have some fun with anyone, and none else needs to know about all this. Aylia starts having weird dreams the following night. High purity: she may wake up and end it, up to the player. Low purity: sleep on... it's just a wet, wet dream ;)

Dehkia

Going from one of the images up top, I think it would be hilarious to see Aylia interact with an Old Lady who had a lot of sexual encounters in her youth. You've said one of the paths will be Aylia using her body to get what she wants, and this lady could be the expert at it. Talking about fucking people to get favors, and maybe giving Aylia tips about what some of the older town residents may enjoy.

thswherizat

A single father with a demi-human child, just trying to make a living. a monster salesman/menagerie owner. a Madam looking to start a brothel.

Ezyk Jaraad

Sounds like this will be a town full a perverts! Haha City building can't be easy, so easy suggestions might help to fill in the "fluff" A family of carpenters Two adventuring brothers that can't seem to get back on the road A growing city needs lots of hopefuls, probably craftsmen and laborers A growing city has people that miss the town when it was much smaller, and they dislike newcomers Maybe, as an Easter egg, a shut-in who makes obscure references to modern events (Trump, Brexit, oil reserves and clean energy, video games)

Amptitude

How about someone who has a strange obsession with Bogwart, maybe even to the point he's uncomfortable with it. someone who is willing to do anything to gain his approval and please him.

A female dwarf who had previously moved away, returning to Zalran upon hearing of its improved prosperity. She was a scribe/schoolteacher in Zalran previously, but had to leave due to being unable to sustain herself with the fewer numbers of children in the community and parents' needs to keep their children home to assist in chores in keeping their own businesses afloat. She also tends to get quite flirty and provocative when drunk.

ArdenW

1. Classic pervy old man, very obese and maybe interracial. He made his money in trade, moved to the mountains because of health issues and the need for healthier air but left once everything went to shit. 2. Gangs of old homeless, returning once there are more begging opportunities with the increasing population

Goblin steve

So a little off topic but a suggestion I have is with quests, we should be able to get away from bogwort sometimes. Love the little green goblin, but the hentai would play out too awkward or weird if we're permanently stuck with bogwort following us, you know? Another thing is armor deterioration! Totally love armor deterioration in games as well.

Blorken Shfeel

A pervy female artist trying to find inspiration in the now regrowing city Zalran, where she runs into Aylia, high purity: nature posing, low purity: she talks Aylia into a gangbang for her to capture the excitement/enjoyment Aylia has during, the paintings can end up hanging in the tavern.

epoxymoron

A sailor who left his navy in "dishonorably." He was a lower level officer who lead a mutiny against his captain who started to attack every ship no matter the flag flown. The captain sold the survivors to slavers and anyone on the crew that displeased him he may or not have slept with a few admiral's daughters, wives, and sisters (not at the same time, sometimes). He has a strong dislike slavers and bandits. He comes to Zalran fleeing from his country until his name can be cleared. He's not a saint but due to his training acts very gentlemanly and shares similar goals as bogwort when it comes to women. He tries to find work but is hard pressed to find work due to his lust. until he tries to get a job with the witch. The witch tries to teach him many things, sexual and magical. He learns he has talent for both.

Nine Horse Hitch

-A Person who asks Aylia for help to establish their own business but doesnt tell her that it will be a brothel, after things are done aylia may be shocked (could be depending on her pride and lust) that she helped somebody establish such an indecent business - the owner, staff and bogwort (and maybe some other people who would like to see aylia work there) may try to convince her to help out there and later to work there

1-A young, impressionable Kavidanian private (male or female) who unfortunately became a fall guy for one of the higher ups. They move into town and use their training to help the old guard Joseph protect the town and maintain order. What this means is that as the town goes in one direction or the other his personality goes in those directions. In a low moral town, he starts to become as corrupt seeing his younger self as a fool for not seeing the world as it is, think Reaver from Fable. Thus he starts to take bribes and abusing his powers. In a high moral town, he become a paragon of the community like Aveline from Dragon Age 2. Striving to stamp out villainy in the town and try to reform former criminals to become respectful members of society. 2-You can have an individual who collects and buys Elven artifact on mission to prevent all artifact that can cause harm to be out of the hands of humans who have a tendency of being power hungry. He would come to town because of a rumor of an elf living there and will sell Alyia decorative artifacts for home when she gets one. He would be a non-human due to his distrust of human nature, maybe an animal, like a wolf, who is possessed by a benevolent demon or something along those lines. He could also sell artifacts that have "alternate" purposes, but actually believes it's decorative.

Sir Balto

One thing I see in some h-games that I always loved is the evil loser type. Like Team Rocket Style. Have a group of novice bandits bent on TAKING OVER THE WORLD try to rob a few people, including Aylia. You can retaliate through battle, and they're super easy to beat. There would be an h-scene if Aylia loses, but it would be up to the player's choice. You could even have an entire side quest line about them since these type of people always come back and be annoying.

KaiserKei

-A retired merchant who has enough to blackmail all of Zalran's neighbors, and who regularly pits assassination teams that are sent after him against each other. -A tentacle monster trying to pass as human, and, while he does well physically, does not do so well when speaking "Ah! My totally human grunrada! It hurts!" -(completely without sarcasm) A competent, yet small, town watch that is in a little bit over their heads.

- A Priest out to spread his religion but has some different ideas on where a women's place is. -A con artist that tricks Aylia, she could also expose him which causes him to seek revenge -A young boy who's the local peeping tom you could set him straight or Encourage his behavior.

An apothecary who is on good terms with Bogwort and is perfectly happy to help make him potions to test on Aylia. A monster hunter who keeps their captive monsters in cages under their house, probably to later be sold to slavers (for use in an arena?). Something happens, and many of the rapey-er monsters break free.

How about a bungling magician/amusements owner. His previous assistants left for reasons that will soon become obvious to Aylia and whichever girls "volunteer". He puts on daily shows to raise morale in the run-down town but the magic tricks he tries never seem to go to plan, or do they... Lots of opportunites to divest the girls of their clothes in various humiliating and public situations.

TurnipFactory

1. Traveling bard who uses his magical lute to hypnotize unsuspecting girls into doing hentai stuff. He may even give Aylia or other girls some lessons how to play his "instrument" ^^. 2. A group of female cultists worshiping a goddes of love - a benevolent deity who watches over couples and romantic relationships. However the goddess has a darker side as well - in order to gain more favours one has to also experience more twisted and extreme versions of "love". 3. Retired bounty hunter who just wants to live peacefully for the rest of his life...or so it seems at first glance. He's also an old pervert who loves to peep on girls, steal their underwear, grope/undress them preferably in public etc. However hes more than just a sex obsessed geezer - he has actual knowledge, techniques and maybe even some magic trinkets to share... not for free though^^

Saigon

Some of my first ideas for now - A young couple who just got married against their parents wishes (secretly aristocracy? Or he is white and she is dark skinned?) and escaped to the boonies to live a simple happily ever after. If there are slavers, she could also get kidnapped and he could provide help in rescuing her and whatever protagonist gets kidnapped too :3 - a somewhat hyper, eccentric and naive herbalist girl who previously lived alone in the woods (her mom who was a witch recently died). Fodder for h-scenes requiring side young female characters (like my Satyr's song idea). First to be suspected as a witch by the zealous mob, if there is a succubus on the loose, even if she's innocent. - female mercenary, more girly than Triste, fodder girl #2 - a family of carpenters who moved back because business was slow where they moved away to. They help rebuild the town. Have two daughters (younger bossy one and older one who is a quiet girl with glasses) who provide fodder girls #3 and #4. - An old wizard retired from teaching in a magic school and his pretty female apprentice. They provide advice about magical things. From an h-game you'd expect for him to be a dirty old man while the girl is his poor victim. It is actually reversed. The wizard is just a frail gentleman, while unassuming female apprentice who takes care of his fragile health at first looks like a very proper magician lady but is actually a bisexual with a hidden sadistic side. She creates a sex dungeon under the old man's house without his knowing and drugs people to help with "magic research" while she puts him to sleep. (BDSM, femdom, summoning sex demons, illusion magic to make people two people who otherwise wouldn't have sex do it) - A wandering goblin hero with a sword that is much too big for him (think something like goblin version of Frog from Chrono Trigger) At first looks badass and chivalrous, so Aylia puts him as an example for Bogwort. Secretly just as perverted as Bogwort, may be a villain or an anti-villain. - a friendly guy who lives alone on the edge of town because he's secretly a werewolf - A clan of hillbilly farmers who sell milk on the market. Mother and daughters have big breasts. They secretly worship a pagan bovine god with a rite which causes breast expansion and lactation for a whole night. The youngest daughter doesn't like it, it's been only recently when they started doing it to her now that she's old enough. If you try to help her, it can happen to Aylia too.

bigtotoro

Doesn't the random selection of patrons go against the rule against raffles? https://www.patreon.com/legal wouldn't voting on suggestions be better?

bigtotoro

Well, as a village gets more prosperous, you're always gonna have some scumbags come in to try and get some of the hard earned profits for themselves, only without the hard work part. So I think that at least one of the people coming in would have to be either a con-man of a criminal of some sort.

Paul Rendell

Are suggestions allowed to be potential vendors, or purely random NPC's?

Denxa777

It can be villagers who have moved back OR fresh arrivals. I'll edit that, as I can see how it is confusing. Basically, Zalran will grow significantly, so there is plenty of room for me to add more people. Yes, they can be involved in h-scenes. No guarantees that it'll make it into the game, but it might.

YummyTiger Gaming

So this is villagers who had moved away previously and are coming back, or does this also include fresh new arrivals? Further, can these new individuals be involved in h-scenes later on?
