Hello everyone!
It's been an insane couple of weeks at work and my progress on the game has suffered from it. Such is the way... in fact, I fly out tomorrow to go on-site and hopefully resolve the issue. Thankfully, I'll still have my trusty Internet so I can still catch me some Eromons in Osawari Island! Hey! Don't judge me...
Anyways, update time, and it is not all bad news. First, I'd like to take a moment to thank my semi-legit team. Balduindrake has agreed to help me out with the scripting on a more regular basis (assuming he doesn't get pulled away), and Pseudolurker has already been a big help editing my piss poor writing. With their help, I'm hoping to get this game development train moving faster than 1mph. The scripting in particular has eaten up a ton of time in the past year.
Second, Aylia's Story is moving along. I did not get to work on it much in the past 10 days or so, but I've got Kira's branch and artwork completely finished for chapter 1. Me being me, I added a couple more CGs as I finalized the dialogue. Wasted time, but I kind of like her barrel searching :-).
I still have plenty to do, but I also hope when I get back I'll have the first completely working h-battle. With Balduindrake's help, I believe I can get it all working as intended and I have the artwork for one enemy finished. I've tweaked things a bit and went back to the drawing board, but I'm really liking how things are shaping up. Battles should be pretty fucking sweet, and will have more to them than most h-games I've seen.
My current goal (and no, this is not a release date) is to have chapter 1 and chapter 2 released to you guys by the end of the year. That would be pushing it, but that is my optimistic goal anyways. If nothing else, for the love of God I better have chapter 1 done by then.
Finally, on that note, I want to talk about pledging for a moment. As you all know, chapter 1 is a non-pledged update. I chose to take this route because I want everyone to have a solid chunk of game to experience before they decide whether funding this endeavor is what they want. Everyone who has pledged up to this point, has basically told me they are very interested in the game and are willing to make that funding decision when the time comes. That is awesome.
Anyways, the point of this rambling is that many people also take into account the length of development when deciding whether to fund something. While my Patreon will only charge supporters when updates are released, the insanely long amount of time I've been working on chapter 1 has probably worried a few people. In this regard, I'd really like for people to focus more on how long it takes me to complete chapter 2 after chapter 1's release as a more accurate example of future development. Even more than that would be chapter 3 when I am working full time, but that would be after a pledge. I don't want people to worry that I'm on pace to produce a chapter a year, because that won't be the case. There has been a steep learning curve to all of this, and time management is just one of those things I've improved upon.
Well, I'll stop the wall of text there. Back to drawing for me!
