Update on Updates! Huh?

Hello everyone!

I was looking over the activity feed and realized I've been slacking on updates. For shame! I think one of the reasons I fail to update is because I like to give you something to look at when I make an update--yet, I don't want to spoil the game with too many pictures. SOOO, for the next few updates, I'll just post some of my old artwork that never saw the light of day. Maybe I'll even post my old dating simulator game that I started ages ago. It did have a working demo in RenPy :-)

Anyways, meet Cassy. She was born in 2011 for a short visual novel style game about a young man who hires a tutor. Through a series of events, he ends up corrupting the tutor into trading services every time he does well in his courses. Ah, the never boring tutor fantasy! Anyways, the art is terribly mediocre, but hopefully it is still worth lookin' at!

Aylia's Story update: As for the game you all care about, still plugging away. I've finalized the prologue with battles and a heavy dose of dialogue editing (Thanks Pseudolurker for all that work :-) ). I'm fairly confident I have the early battle stuff where I want it, and it should be easier to build upon now. Actually, as I write this I'm realizing I still need to update the music, but that is one of the final pieces.

This week I am focusing on drawing as many of the remaining CGs as I can. If I get tired of drawing, then I'll switch to tweaking the chapter 1 enemies to fit with the battle system. I'm not going to give a release estimate this time around, instead, I think I am just going to keep you guys informed with more frequent updates.

I do have a bit of news to share though. Given that my Patreon has reached $3,200, I am making the dangerous assumption that it will eventually hit $4,000 and I'll be taking this full time. I'm very excited to work on this full time, as I've never had a job I've enjoyed before. Anyways, starting May 10, I'll be officially working on Aylia's Story part-time. You might be thinking, "What the hell is the difference?" Well, the difference is I'll have work hours sectioned off each week for the game, and it will no longer just be a simple hobby that I work on whenever I find some time (which is a big reason for how long things are taking). Starting May 10th, I'll have Tuesdays and Thursdays to work on Aylia's Story for around 5-6 hours (in addition to whatever time I can scrounge up in the evenings\nights). I think this will be a good transition to full time, which will probably happen when I release the first paid update (chapter 2).

Well, as always, thanks for your support. I hope I never take you all for granted, as you guys are funding my dream job, and I am grateful. Now, time to get some more of the game finished!

Smexy outfits!

Heaven Studios

Glad you liked it ArdenW! I hope you continue to like it as more content is released. The panties issue was actually because at that point I did not have any of the items balanced. Now panties are not better than the potato sack. While the idea is kind of funny, I don't want the game to select panties when you click "optimize." And who knows, maybe someday she will wander around with her titties bare for the world to see ;)

I just saw your game on the Legend of Krystal forums, downloaded and played through the demo, and now I'm here! :D I've just got to say that I'm really digging where this game is going and I look forward to seeing it develop. Keep up the great work. Also, from a gamer's perspective, I had to chuckle when I noticed that Panties granted better stats than the Potato Sack Bogwort gave Aylia to wear, but she refuses to go out in just her panties. C'mon Aylia! They give you better bonuses, so what if you have to bear those lovely titties for the whole world to see? Your panties and bare skin will give you greater protection than that hemp potato sack will! ;)

ArdenW

Yes, your edits were... detailed. :-) And, glad you like the artwork. It's not much, but I've got a few more for the upcoming updates. At least it is something new to look at!

We'll definitely wait and see how things play out. I'm not so cynical as to think that most people will pull their pledges and avoid paying. I still believe that if I produce a quality game that people enjoy, they will want to support the production of more. It is one of the few things Bogwort prays for! And, you have no idea how eager I am to try this thing full time.

It sounds like you're on the right track so just keep plugging away, you'll be there very soon. I have to agree with the advice of others to only give out a link to paid content once the billing cycle has finished so that you can get your money without anyone trying to pull a fast one. Good luck and hope things work out for making this your fulltime gig :D

Me are type English gud four edditz. Lol. Good to hear most of the remaining work is the part you actually enjoy! Just imagine those subsequent chapters, relatively free of the system and number stuff! The Eromancer model is a good idea for weeding out the fake pledges. It's a little more work-intensive, especially if you go the route of trying to mark each specific download as belonging to a particular donor (so if it ends up in the wild, you know who to talk to), but it would prevent the aspects of pulling the pledge at the last second after grabbing the release. Also, woo for unreleased artwork being released for updates!

Thanks for the warning. I anticipate some fake donations (which is pretty lame, but whatever). I plan on using caution as I take this full time and will definitely take into account Patreon's billing cycle. I may end up doing something like Eromancer where I send out links after the billing cycle for a paid post--I'm not sure on that yet though. Right now, I'll just worry about getting chapter 1 done.

Nothing to link, the tutor game was just a flash-in-the-pan idea. I wrote some short stories about it and thought, why not try and make a short visual novel. Created a few sketches and these character portraits in a few days, but quickly lost interest. This is the case with most of my old artwork that I will release in these updates.

YummyTiger Gaming

i wouldn't mind trying that tutor x shota game to if you have the link

Poncho

Remember 2 things befofe you risk anything first of all maybe 10 percent more or less of those donators are fakers who will never pay some wont pay first month maybe second but at third you should erase and second no matter when you finished the first realeased patreon will only charge at the end of the month

john

Wow, thanks so much for taking the plunge. That is the purpose of the $1 tier, to see what this is all about. Also remember, I don't have this set up to bill monthly, but only when I release chapters--which is a good thing considering how long it has taken to get this first chapter out the door. As for the tutor game, it never even developed into a demo. Just some sketches and earlier character portrait. Those portraits, an under-the-table panty shot, and a few backgrounds are about all the art I finished for that game. It was more of a flash in the pan idea I had one weekend and worked on it for a week.

Thanks! Not sure she would really fit with the Aylia's Story world, but a secret scene would be kind of cool. Something that only the early Patrons would know about :-).

YummyTiger Gaming

Awesome. you should put her in the game as an easter egg. Maybe a secret scene in new game + chapter 4 event. im glad its panning. Out. I look forward to your work in thé future.
