Chapter 1 Information

Hello again!

Progress, progress, progress. My upgraded computer is running excellent, and I've been working diligently whenever I can spare a moment. I really, really want to get Chapter 1 in your guys' hands. I think you all will love it. In my mind, the biggest complaint will probably be it is not enough :-).

-Progress Estimate Removed- (MiB)

Final comments: I would be interested in what people think of the red background over the battle field. I want to put something up, and my thoughts were I would use a red background for enemy attack CGs, and a blue background for Aylia's sex appeal skill CGs. I'd make them fade around halfway across the screen (as it is in the preview). I'm not in love with the current version, but as with battle balance, I may wait until after the release to fiddle with it more. Still, opinions would be nice.

Oh, and I promise I won't release too many pictures. This is the only spoiler you get before chapter 1 is released. I just wanted to show you all the battle in action!

Thanks! I've tried some of the same things, although, I'm interested in the first one. How did you get the depth of field effect? Does it work as an overlay, or do you need to modify the picture itself? I'd need the background to be a separate PNG file that I overlay, as the battle background do change during the game. I may try transparency again, but with Aylia's battler sprite in the background, my early tests were not great. I thought it left the scene far too cluttered.

I thought I would try to help. I made these, perhaps they might be of some assistance? http://s11.postimg.org/5smi9xeyp/Backgrounds.png Just making the colours a little more transparent might help? I've also tried a blur and a border.

Congrats on reaching 2.5k goal ! and keep up the awesome work !

Look greit. Cant wait 2 play it. U are doing a Nice job.

Thanks! No clothing destruction, just clothing attacks. So, with the peasant dress, some enemies can pull it down and then target Aylia's breasts. With other outfits, the type of attacks will be different.

Beta. Whenever I get this out to you guys, I'll release it publicly about a week later. Hopefully, that is March 20th!

YummyTiger Gaming

so is March 20 the beta release or official release?

tweak tweak tweak got to love it I think I lost my hair over those tweaks lol you know what I mean :) cant have any buggs

this looks very very good, I like the style :-) have this game battle damage, so the enemy can destroy the dress? or if there is only the possibility, as already shown above? I would be interested

Hmm let's see, yes the red partial background isn't too distracting.... beeeewwwwwbbbsssss *clears throat*. Sorry about that, anyway as always love what you're doing so far, keep up the great work ;D

True! There are more appealing things to look at than the background overlay!

YummyTiger Gaming

Hrmm, that sounds exactly like what Bogwort would say!

Remember, I'm only releasing chapter 1. Don't get too excited. I think you all will enjoy it, but I want to rein the hype in somewhat as I don't want you to be seriously disappointed. You can expect 2 multi-stage main quests, a number of side quests, and some random mini-events in chapter 1. I've said before that I am a terrible judge of time, but I would estimate maybe 3-5 hours of gameplay? Again, I just don't want you to go in expecting too much. I'm trying my best to get you a quality product, but it will still be a beta product. Not sure if it is worth taking time off work for :-)

Seconded. Transparency seems like it would work a little better for me. Blocking the background completely might take from the battle's atmosphere a bit, but with transparent color you can still give the color's feel with the background too.

Slarry

Most of the battle overlay approaches I've seen have some sort of background effect, or just overlay the entire battle screen, so the concept works. I don't hate this approach, and I don't know that I'd necessarily be all that concerned by the backdrop - I find my attention goes to the relevant portion of the screen, lol!

bewwwwwwwwwwwbs

I think the amount of color in the action background is too much, too distracting. What you could do is reduce it to only extend slightly beyond the action or leave it at the amount covered and have it somewhat transparent.

Sir Balto

Yes, All of my yes. As for the solid color background... Hmmm I cant think of an idea for it... I know Circle Kame does something similar but only a solid image on the right (away from the menus and such) but thats up to you.

Razgriz Gundam

Looking good bro, honestly like you I don't love the red/blue background idea, but I like the idea of directing our attention from the battle. Now as for how you could remedy this, I am not sure. You have no idea how exited I am for this release, it could honestly be the most exiting release this year. Gomikuzugun is up there though. I like the enemy design, innocent yet deadly. I look forward to march 20th and have quite literally booked that day off work. I hope progress is smooth, also 2500 mark is coming up, I would love to see a cg involving the second rival, I have decided Kira is my main rival lol, albeit lynne could be it, we know nothing about her yet...., anyways keep up the good work, and congrats on the progress.
