Terror in the Tundra Frozen Crypt

Finally happy with how this is working. I had quite a bit of backwards and forwards getting an ice effect that I was happy with for the floors and cavern walls. I've designed them to work as standard walls and floor tiles so I can split them up to make individual pieces to go into the Underground Essentials set eventually.

The ice wall was a bit of a fiddle mechanically and also getting it printing nice in a transparent filament. I used PolyLite PETG Clear / Transparent in the sample video attached and glued a balloon LED to the underside to get a nice glowing effect to the full ice cube version.

Have you tried with a resin printer?

Anyone else have the same problem as me where the Ice stl only slices the first layer? (Frozen Crypt Walls Tall Ice v02)

Alwin Voets

can you show us where did you glue the ballon LED ?

Thanks :)

Yep just slice with your normal settings :)

Awesome! So I just load up the STL in the slicer and it will work? No settings to fiddle with, regarding the thickness/infill?

No the clear filament never prints properly clear, so you just naturally get the frosty effect. I kept the thickness of the model between to 2-4 perimeters, so you get a nice variation in the light that does get though. The transparent PLA I've tried works just as well as the PETG :)

The Dragon's Rest

I wonder if you can get the same type of transparent effect, if using filament such as PLA. How did you get that frosty effect in the ice? Isn't it completely transparent?

Amazing
