2025-03-31 22:45:21 +0000 UTCStarted my storage career with DataGeneral Clariion storage systems running on Fibre Channel Arbitrated Loop at 1Gb using DB9 copper cables with only 4 leads in the connector... we only had a FC HUB from Emulex :-) EMC acquired DG's storage department and kept the Clariion name for quite awhile... good times :-) A few years before that I was running a small ISP where we used the IBM RS/6000 Model 550L... I remember booting AIX from 8mm tape... and hd to compile most software like Apache etc.. :-) and yes I feel old... version 5.0 now ;-)

2025-03-29 16:54:13 +0000 UTCOhhh fibre channel drives! I remember setting up EMC SANs with those in them years ago. I hated dealing with the FC switches. Probably not so bad when they are direct attached.
