THEIR power is also based on devouring, and they have not just devoured the catalyst, they are now also devouring the pieces of the previous "sons." I don't think Rand is going to become the son. He's gonna become the daddy. (Would also explain why Devick is not interfering. She's caught on to exactly what's happening here. Probably more so than Rand has.)
