"The Kiss" - Hansry WIP

As promised in an earlier post, here's a sneak peek of my Hansry redraw of "The Kiss" by Silvio Allason, set during Hans' wedding! I work in greyscale before I add colours so I won't have to take care of values and colours at the same time. I also had to adjust the pose quite a bit, since Hans is nowhere near as short as the woman in the original painting! πŸ˜„ I'm still debating whether to place Hans' wreath on the ground, just like the woman's hat in the painting. But it looks cute on his head, so I might not. Or I might. Who knows.

I'm also working on new nsfw art of these two! πŸ‘€ But I can't show sneak peeks of that just yet.

Absolutely stunning, as always. Your ability to capture the subtlety and nuance of human emotion once again comes shining through on this. There is so much love in this image that I actually feel loved myself just by looking at it - that's how powerful your evocation is. Incredible. Thank you for your hard work on this and for sharing with us 🩷

That's exactly the vibe I'm going for with this! πŸ₯Ή I used to colour "normally" before I discovered greyscale colouring and it was such a game changer for me because I didn't enjoy digital colouring either. I always use this method now, but the way I apply colour depends on what I'm going for. Gradient maps are a great way to add general colour, but usually I prefer to use an Overlay/Soft Light layer! Then Colour Dodge and Screen for light, Multiply for shadows :) But all of that really depends on the drawing. Greyscaling is actually how many oil painters colour - but they call it "glazing" πŸ˜„

Oh my! That's so sweet! They look so happy – as if "Hans is marrying someone else, but they both know that his heart will always belong to Henry" type of way, you know? Also, do you always shade in gray and then add colors in multiply layer? I used to think I love coloring the most before I got into digital art and got completely lost, haha.
