But how, and why did this compression format win the file format war?
Delve within.
On a personal note. I've always been fascinated by PKWARE. During the 90s, it was very likely to be the tool I used more than any other. Compressing files across multiple floppy disks. Copying my mate's version of DOOM onto several floppy disks. I lived and breathed PKZIP. So it feels right to explore it.

2020-10-01 17:20:17 +0000 UTCAn important tool in the days of the Sneakernet, or is that the Busnet if you drove by bus to your friends house with a batch of diskettes, and the Snail-Mail File Transfer as both where way cheaper than paying what Deutsche Bundespost and later the Deutsche Telekom asked per minute.
