New book system in 'The Library Story'

Today we will tell you more detailed about what changes will be made to the mechanics of books in 'The Library Story'. Of course, this system will still be adjusted, especially after tests and feedback from beta-testers. But in general, it will look exactly like this.

As we already wrote, we planned from the very beginning that Gaston would buy different books, for what  his surplus money should have been spent. Each individual book was supposed to have more value, and not like now: when Gaston inherited a bookcase with all the books at once from the previous owner of the shop... What a luck! :D

However, the fact that instead of the planned books mechanics there was a placeholder for so long in LS, it turned out to be pluses unexpectedly. During this time, we added a wonderful Reading Room to the game, that turned out to be the missing piece in order for the system to line up the way we like. The "ordinary" books that help to linearly increase Belle's parameters will be rest in approximately the same form as they are now. Well, maybe there will be minor changes, but no more.

But the development of mechanics will consist in the fact that Belle goes to the Reading Room only when it contains one of the rare, extremely valuable books. So new gameplay elements will be built around these rare books. In fact, rare books are a "bait" for Belle, otherwise she refuses to visit the Reading Room (and doesn't want to follow the rules associated with it ;) ). Besides, it is not enough simply to place a book in a bookcase of the Reading Room - Belle does not just look at, but reads books (the speed depends on the size of the volume), so after reading the current book, Gaston will have to bring the next one.

Rare books, once read, will have a special effect on Belle. Not simply +10 corruption and +5 knitting socks. :D Most of the rare books will have special effects, in furthermore, Gaston will have an opportunity to discuss with Belle what she read, and sometimes even unlock new scenes or events related to the book. Thus, the books will not only be "fuel" for events in the Reading Room, but also a value in themselves.

In addition, in terms of the new book system we talked above, it's a good time to remind you that we still accept submissions for original unique books from our patrons! These may also be rare books for the Reading Room, the value of which will now increase significantly. We have already received a number of proposals, but there should be more good books! ^__^ So join the event!
