We did it! The first chapter of “IQ” is out now. We crossed the Rubicon, burned our bridges, done the deed, stopped fooling around, there’s no going back anymore, etc., etc. And this brought our small team a giant relief. Finally, we got the feeling that as long as we’re alive, we can do everything planned. Your mostly positive feedback also helped. You can’t even imagine how pleasant and inspiring it is to read your words after doing all that huge work! Thanks a lot!
And now it’s time to talk about our plans and answer some questions. Let’s go.
Q: What are you planning on doing next?
A: First, we’re going to slightly improve the Chapter One for public release. Thanks to all our trainings in the form of demos and test releases, we managed to minimize the number of bugs in the release build (knock on wood!) But it’s impossible to make everything flawless, as you well know. So, we still have what to work on in the Chapter One, although it’s good to know it’s not a lot. During the public release we’ll tell you what exactly we improved. Probably, even our patreons will be interested in downloading it to have not only the first version of the game, but also the most polished one.
Second. The bonus content promised to the patreons. We also need some time to prepare and finalize it. Everything must be perfect!
Btw, Patreon comrades, feel free to comment on what you would like to receive as a gift together with Chapter One. Perhaps, you have some good ideas which aren’t on our list yet.
Last but not the least, CHAPTER TWO! We have already started working on it, and we’re going to continue without any breaks or vacations. Quite the opposite, inspired by your reactions, we’re all now chomping at the bit and have to convince ourselves to get some sleep or attend to important matters postponed during the release.
Q: When is the release of Chapter Two?
A: We don’t know it yet! One thing is clear: you won’t have to wait for it as long as you waited for Chapter One. Splitting the game into chapters was introduced as a way of speeding up our work. And of course, it would be meaningless to release Chapter Two after everyone forgets the events of Chapter One.) But now it’s too early to specify the date. And now we have a lot more opportunities to report to you how the things are going, so we’re going to use them all. Stay tuned, we’ll definitely keep you posted.
Q: Chapter One was good but a bit too short. Will every chapter be the same?
A: No. The length of the chapters will vary. Looks like some of them will be even shorter than the first, which we had to cut to move part of the content to Chapter Two. But some of them will be definitely longer. But no exact sizes for now. Remember, there are only three of us for now, we have limited time and resources, and the longer is the chapter, the longer you’ll have to wait. Between “longer but infrequent” and “shorter but regular” we definitely choose the latter. It is dictated by our capabilities.
Q: How many chapters are planned?
A: Oh, we don’t know it ourselves. One thing is clear, though: there will be a lot. As many as needed to tell the whole story. Three chapters are in development now, including the first one. And this is obviously only the beginning of our characters’ journey. Have you seen those collectible cards in the demos? We’re planning to make 101 of them. Savvy?
Q: But do you have the balls?
A: We do. We already tested.
Q: Btw, you had so many cool mechanics in your demos, but we haven’t seen them in Chapter One. Did you decide to, like, throw them away or something?
A: What nonsense! Of course, not! We haven’t discarded a single thing we invented, developed and put into demos. You’ll get it all. But not everything in Chapter Two or even Chapter Three. Please, pay attention that in Chapter One we included three brand new mechanics never seen in any of our demos before. We have lots of ideas, and we’re going to put them into the game regularly.
