Temporary Acoustic Chamber Build (Patreon Behind the Scenes)

Hey everyone!

We recently built a temporary acoustic testing 'chamber' to bring noise levels down to our baseline from the old location. We had an interesting challenge: Don't make it too good. It'd be easy to make this setup much better, but we actually don't want it to be better than the old location (yet); we want something that matches, but doesn't require multiple retests.

Mike, our cooler test technician, will walk you through it!

Good point! That would be nice indeed. I wonder if maybe that can be more subjective than a dB measurement, and so looks like a can of worms not worth engaging with.

It’s great to hear from other people in the office. Maybe one day Steve can take a break and let some other people host the videos.

Would be great to start doing frequency profiling too! A whiny fan with sharp frequency spikes at lower decibel level will be far more annoying than a “louder” fan emitting a lower frequency hum that is spread out evenly.

No, that's not right here. We don't want it to be too good. We need it to match our old setup, not be better than it. Believe me, it was hard to resist making it better than what we had, but the point is that we need comparable data to our old data -- making it better would mean requiring retesting everything now, then retesting again in a year when we build our chamber. When we have budget for it, we will build a full acoustic chamber (+ construction).

Thanks Mike! Keep up the good work!
