Z Review - Yamaha HS8

Comments

You should see my EQ for the HD6's ;) a bit stupid for a speaker claiming +-1.5db

Evan Van Der Paal

In that case these will rock your socks.

ZeosPantera

Its on SoundCloud somewhere.

ZeosPantera

I try not to unless they REALLY need it. Then I would bitch about it.

ZeosPantera

I mean not really. But there are cheaper/better options if you don't need these and their girth.

ZeosPantera

I have them and I am pairing them with emotiva stealth DC-1 DAC. I am running them balanced from my computer. I have a 10 foot desk and a high ceilings, big room. I would love another pair. I like that they are flat and I hear just what the recording is. My ears never fatigue . I love them. I have had them for over a year now.

Lori Latta

ok where can i get the song Get Renai because I NEED IT IN MY LIFE

You mentioned MiniDSP and flattening some peaks: do you flatten out speaker spectral response before reviewing/testing them? My first Fluance pair, SX6s, were hella bright and now are bass monsters after I flattened their response.

serguzzle

My desk can easily fit them, but my room is small. Is that going to be a problem?

Haha...I almost fell down the stairs reding this.

PervySage

Hahaha maybe ;)

Evan Van Der Paal

Audioengine HD6's anything above 8k in non existent...

Evan Van Der Paal

What are your current?

ZeosPantera

Racism? Naa

7:34 LMAO. Sorry Zeos, go on.

Umm I have the HS 5's with a Fostex HP-A3 as my soruce. I tried the JBL 305's, but they made a humming sound that drove me nuts. So I got the Yamahas. I have found my speakers and I'm not buying the HS-8's...damn you Z so tempting. I'm new to the world of descent audio, but I know what I like. The HS-5s are suppose to be neutral but as near fields, here on my tiny desk, they sound simply amazing. To my ears the JBL's had too much bass. The Yamahas have bass, but it is controlled and not over the top if that makes any sense. If any one is wondering the Fostex HP-A3 does not push too much power, so my HD-600's do not sound that great to me. So I'll be buying the emotiva basx a-100 soon. My wallet and my wife are cursing the day I discovered Z reviews.

PervySage

you could rap them in something - this sort of thing.... not sure if it would look any good though - just an example but they have loads - https://www.decalgirl.com/artwork/1523/black-hole

They are cheaper in AUS. Blacks are more $$$ than whites. https://www.storedj.com.au/yamaha-hs8-8-active-studio-monitors-pair

I've been waiting for this, can you convince me to sell my current speakers? Because I could actually afford these compared to everything else I want.
