SUNDAY UPDATE: BRINGING IT ALL TOGETHER

Happy Sunday, gang. What’s a-happenin’?

Sorry for being a bit quiet this week – Bubblegun aside. I’ve been a tad under the weather. Slighty burnt out I think too, as I’ve been going at full speed since before Poland and hit a wall this week. Going away to film is great, but it does mean I then have to cram my work and family stuff in around the trips.

I’m hoping – all fingers crossed – you should have the new video next week. Yes, a long time coming I know. The one after should be a tad simpler and quicker to pull together; I really can’t be going to this effort with every one of them. It’s madness!

Unusually, the toughest thing about this one has been the script. It has ended up – without intending – to be the most personal video we’ve made. I struggled with understanding what I wanted to say in conclusion, and how to find the words to bring it all together. Yes, I know… it’s a video about Doggerland… but, I mean, it’ll all make sense when you see it…

The second toughest thing is dealing with the amount of footage we shot. There's about four hours of it, and I've been trying hard to whittle it down - or find a way to split it into more than one video. It's tricky though. Going through it is a case of finding and committing to the narrative. There are about five completely different videos - with entirely different tones - we could make out of all of this stuff. What we don't use in the main video (or videos), we'll find a way to share with you.

Above is a piece of music that I put together for the soundtrack. I was trying to write something that sounded ancient, and damp, and evoked the sea.

We did record some more podcasts this week, which are buying us time to get the stupid bloody video done (meanwhile, Sanja is doing the assembly edit of Drong’s Challenge). The first two eps of the podcast have done surprisingly well (or, at least, better than we expected), and we’ve really enjoyed doing them. We’ll probably set up a Bubblegun YT channel at some point for occasional video versions.

We’ve recorded an Action Man episode, which will probably be an upper tiers exclusive. We’re also open to suggestions – basically, anything goes with Bubblegun. We’ve even somehow managed to get a whole episode out of woodlice (thank you, Bea).
