EARLY ACCESS: IT'S BACK!

Here's the video again, with the offending redacted Gannon story now fully redacted to avoid the chance of anybody lip-reading it!

Enjoy!

EARLY ACCESS: IT'S BACK!

Doctor Who is a national treasure, but it desperately needs a shot in the arm. The Chibnall era has been mediocre at best. It's just too damn preachy and stifled under the weight of social commentary (though it has nothing to say beyond the platitudinal). I haven't warmed to any of the companions either (Bradley Walsh? Really?). I loved what Moffatt did with the show. Bigger scope, proper fantastical sci-fi ideas, more ambitious, and wasn't afraid to explore the darker corners of the Doctor's character. It will be interesting to see what RTD does with the show when he returns. My prediction: Tennant and Piper will return.

FFS - how am i supposed to pretend to be working when i'm laughing as much as this? BTW - if Gannon becomes the next doctor, you're gonna have to revisit this episode and insert the length of his sonic screwdriver in that chart :-|

Love the fact that you totally digressed from Merlin (you’re welcome by the way πŸ˜€) and went into a massive Doctor Who rant as I’m also a Who fan (although I much prefer the old school episodes rather than the reboot stuff).

Luke Miller

It was Luke who gave you the Merlin thing!

Kathy Holloway (Silph)

I will give you all my future money's for the Beatles cells. If not it was still lovely tangent about them 😘

Lewis Salter

Matt Smith, tops the list, allegedly.

Yes! I had exactly that same desire to see Paterson Joseph as the Doctor. I think the sense of theatricality would work, Tom Baker was a bit of a thespian in the role and with the right writer and showrunner it fits the show well, IMO. On the other hand, I remember having this thought around the time they cast Capaldi as the doctor, and in retrospect it'd have been a case of right actor, wrong time - imagining the waste of Joseph forced into playing the sort of weird American Graffiti style "affectedly cool rock'n'roll teenager" character they went with. (Which didn't fit Capaldi either!) I've drifted away from the series a bit in recent years. Weirdly the episodes all the usual angry rent-a-gobs were up in arms about (the partition of India one, and the Rosa Parks one) were the best for me, although in the latter case it did feel like they'd written a good historical drama then bolted about 10 minutes of stuff for the Doctor to do on the side. Oh, and that theme is excellent. Brings back memories of the early, squelchy-synth reimagining from the start of the JNT era - an underrated version of the theme, IMO.

Matt Kimber (Timberwolf)

That was brilliant. I'm surprised given the excellent in-depth analysis of every aspect of Dr Who over the years that 'sonic screwdriver' size has never been covered before in DWM or as a dvd documentary extra.

John Miller

Yeah, the fuss of removing it has made me a million percent more curious as to wtf the story was

Chai

I want to know what the bloody story was now!!! :D
