LOST IN SPACE

Hello chums.

Sorry I've not gotten the final part of the Monster Hunter Diaries to you yet. We're planning to record it tomorrow, and it should be up by Thursday, so alas you'll only get it a few hours early. Sorry again that I wasn't able to do it sooner.

I've been mostly working on the final Lost Footage which, as I've said before, I'm putting an extra level of polish into. I'm currently rendering the end of the episode (there are some earlier segments still left to complete), and it's probably the riskiest thing we've done in Lost or Found Footage, given that, well, it doesn't really try to be funny. I kept putting funny bits in, but they didn't sit well with the overall vibe, and the emotion I wanted it to have.

It's seven minutes inspired by Pink Floyd, 2001: A Space Odyssey and, er, Buddhism. Chris JC has knocked it out of the park with the music. It's pure epic prog.

As well as the extra work on the editing side, this episode has been a challenge in other ways. I wanted it to have something to say, but I was struggling with how to convey it in a way that kept it part of the wider series, and was sort of moving as well as funny. It's weird where inspiration comes from, but I stumbled upon an ad from the 1970s for an electrical store. That was the spark I needed for the Old Age segment, and I finally had my road in.

I kind of want you to show you bits now, but at the same time... this episode, more than any other, has been conceived as a whole - and you've already been treated to a couple of exclusive snippets. So I think I'll wait. I've got a few sections left to put together, and an overall polish to do on the whole thing, but I'm hoping - if David Heslop can get me his Sting VoiceOver this week - it'll be ready to go up next week.

I'm not expecting this to do better numbers than the other Lost Footage eps, even with the extra work, but I am determined to make sure it's as good as I can make it. Who knows? I might use it as a proof-of-concept pilot.

Paul
