Highborn Champion/Jirel of Joiry
Added 2023-05-05 23:48:56 +0000 UTCWell, when I started re-printing some old Pocket-Tactics sets in 30mm scale I didn't exactly intend on revising some pieces, but here we are! So, it looks like we'll be dropping a revamped Highborn Houses set this month as well. I figured it would be cool to drop you something as we head into the weekend, so here's an advance on that with the "Highborn Champion." Prints support free in FDM, as is the PT way. This one's available in the $5+ reward folders now.
I also felt like this was the perfect opportunity to make that unofficial Jirel of Joiry miniature that I've been wanting since I read the book. For those who don't know, Jirel is one of the first sword & sorcery heroes. Very much like a proto-Red Sonja (but way, way cooler), she was created in the 1930s by a female author (C. L. Moore). For those who haven't read her stuff, I highly recommend it.

Hah, cool! Well enjoy that. They’re just excellent all the way through. So you’re On Black God’s Kiss at the moment? Some inspiration from that story (and a later one) made it into Mirror Walkers, since this is what I was reading when I was writing that. Oh, I’m not actually Dutch, btw. It’s just a moniker. We’re in the US as well (Washington state).

2023-05-06 15:55:57 +0000 UTCSo funny...I'm actually reading Jirel of Joiry (just set it down 5 minutes ago after finishing the dark chapel part). I don't know about the Netherlands, but the book is not well known in the US. A shame really, because it's really crazy creative world building!
