Happy month of Halloween!
So this week has been mostly midterms for me and I was kinda feeling a little burnt out from that already, and the idea of working more after that much studying just wasn't in the cards for me, but not wanting to show up this week empty handed, I thought I'd show off something I've been working on for a while now.
It's a text-parser spanking game made in Inform 7! What's neat about this program is it allows you to write text adventures using plain English as the programming language. Pretty nifty!
Anyway, the game is supposed to be an experiment in great interactive depth in a very small environment. The game takes place in a single house! My idea however, is that every little detail of the player's interaction with the objects in the house and with their mother is modeled realistically. An example is that if you behave erratically and then try to give mom a kiss, she might think that you're trying to butter her up or that you're ill.
The gist of the game is pretty box standard, you're grounded, there's a party, go to the party. The ways of which you could do this are multitudinous though. Convincing your mom that you're sick and sneaking out while she thinks you're asleep, rigging up a simple automaton of yourself as a stand in, tricking your mom into thinking that you're going to study at the library, are all examples of options that will be viable.
Of course if the player bungles any of these up or misbehaves while around their mom, she won't hesitate to spank them! There is literally room in this program to do just about anything, so I might even include some devious things in as well, I don't know.
Anyway, I thought you guys might find that cool. Don't expect too many updates on this project or really for it to come out any time soon, but I will keep working on it on and off when I have the time!
