Thank you. I just love gushing about something I'm passionate about, and you are willing to listen, so you became the victims of my gushing. ❤️

omg that totally makes sense. JC is just really really protective over his family and that’s why he’s always so critical and protective over WWX 😭😭 This also makes the future episodes even more heartbreaking 🥹🥹🥹

Jiang Cheng and Wei WuXian have different personalities. Wei WuXiand would do anything to help others, and it doesn't matter who the others are. I believe it stemmed from his past, when he had lost everything and had no choice but to seek help from strangers (which even Jiang family was at that time). He learned from Clan Leader Jiang how important a human's good heart is and decided to protect others like he was protected when he needed it most. Even his wish to the laterns was: "I wish that I, Wei Wuxian, can eliminate the wicked and aid the weak for my entire life, holding no regrets in my heart."  Jian Cheng has a strong bond with his family, which includes Wei WuXian. He loves them all more than anyone else. He would do anything for them, but for them only. He doesn't understand Wei WuXian's desire to help everyone. Even worst, every time Wei WuXan helps anyone else, he sees it as a betrayal to the family. Because every one of his heroic acts puts his family on the radar of their enemies, which raises the stakes. And no one but his family is important to him.

There is no way to learn "cut sleeve" unless you go deep into Chinese Danmei, so I thought it might be interesting for you to know now when you are getting through your first Danmei, even though they would have to be allowed to address anything not-straight first in the show to be able to use that term. But there are sometimes references to it in other censored Danmai, so now you will have a chance not to miss it (like in World of Honor, where the main couple actually cut each other's sleeves in separate scenes throughout the show under ridiculous pretexts, which was brilliant).

Eleanor Mooe

I absolutely get that. I was actually pleasantly surprised to get an answer for you the first time I commented under your post because most reactors don't replay, or at least not to anything else then under the most recent posts. It's just that I saw you replay most of the comments but not any under that one episode, and it happened to be an episode where people are frequently sharing spoilers in comments, so I thought someone might warn you about it ahead of time. 😄

Eleanor Mooe

oh no!! Sometimes I just get busy and I’m not able to respond to all comments and there’s times where we have a lot of reactions coming out so some episodes kind of get pushed down out and I end up focusing on more recent comments haha But omg thank you for the explanation and clarification!!! Haha I think it was just easy to think it was possible that maybe JC had feelings for WWX after finding out they’re adopted brothers lolol cause sometimes you never know in BLs! Lots of characters end up being gay hahaha but your explanation totally makes sense!! He’s just very protective of his brother and loves him a lot and I think that’s so beautiful! I’ve never heard of the term “cut sleeve” but wow that’s so beautiful!! I had no idea. Love learning about that!!!

YES definitely!! I wasn’t a fan of her but eventually I came to really respect her an understand her.

Despite the fact that there is a whole story in the novel about how everyone expected Clan Leader Jiang to marry Wei WuXian's mother because they were so close, but she married his most loyal subordinate and good friend instead, so he did what his family wanted from him all along and did a political marriage with Madame Yu, I don't recall there being any rumors about Wei WuXian being Clan Leader Jiang's love child. She hates him because she adores Jiang Cheng and notices that her husband prefers the child of someone else to his own (the reason for this is that Wei WuXian reminds him of two people he loved and respected, whereas Jiang Cheng is a male copy of Madame Yu, so he finds it difficult to show him the same affection), plus Wei WuXian always acts in a way he shouldn't, and she's afraid that it will doom their clan (which is true at the end, no matter that it wasn't his fault, but it wouldn't happen if it weren't for him, or at least not so soon). I wouldn't say I like Madame Yu, but I can't help but respect her. She despised Wei WuXian but chose to sacrifice herself and send him somewhere safe together with Jiang Cheng because, regardless of her hatred towards him, she understood how important Wei WuXian was to her son.

To answer your question (from the previous episode, but you don't reply to any comments from the previous episode, so I figured you maybe blocked the comments there to avoid potential spoilers? and honestly, one spoiler is actually there, so if you didn't read any of it, it may be for the best.) Jiang Cheng and Wei WuXian have a strictly brotherly relationship in the canon of the novel and manhua, there's never anything else. Jiang Chengs is jealous about WangXian relationship, but only because he is afraid of losing his brother if his brother finds "another brother", not knowing the true extend of their relationship. There are no other canonical cut sleeve relationships or even cut sleeve romantic one-sided feelings between anyone other than Wei WuXian and Lan WangJi. (Besides Mo XuanYu, the guy who gave his body to Wei WuXian in the first episode. In the novel, he was cut sleeve and in love with a family member.) I'm not sure if you've heard the term "cut sleeve," but it's the ancient Chinese way of saying "gay," and it's frequently used in all Danmai (the Chinese genre of ancient fantasy BL). So I like to use it when discussing sexualities because that is how they call themselves. The term comes from a beautiful story about an emperor who fell in love with a man. One day, when they both fell asleep together, he was forced to go somewhere, and his lover was sleeping on his sleeve, so he cut his sleeve rather than have to wake him up.

YESS omg we’re loving it hehehe. Nice to hear from you! Hope you’re well!!
