Lost Mines of Phandelver Session 5: King Grol improved stats, Location cards
Added 2020-10-07 03:08:28 +0000 UTC
Hey everyone!
Rather than share this on Friday, I figure I should post these now since they're related to this week's video. In fact, I should have posted these yesterday! But here we are :)
King Grol's stat block here reflects his role as a commander, so he's more about buffing and enabling his allies rather than being a warrior himself. If you're running this stat block, you might have to adjust the balance of the encounter depending on the state of your party when they encounter ya boy.

Haha oh no that's tragic!

Hi Matthew! I'm so immensely appreciative of your content. It has helped SO much as I get into DMing for the first time with a group of friends who don't have much DnD experience (myself included). A funny situation I wanted to share was while working our way through cragmaw castle, our rogue decided to clime around the top of the castle rubble after some successful rolls. Towards the main baddie room, I made the side closet room beside Grol into a bathroom. As the rouge peeped around the corner who did they see but KLARG currently on the toilet relieving himself & having himself some snacks. He was supposed to plead with Grol to get reinforcements to battle against the Party that killed his wolf at cragmaw cave. The rogue in fact was WEARING his wolf, Klargy's, pelt around his back. All Klarg wanted to do in life was eat and smoke and have fun, and in the end, the last thing he sees is the pelt of his late best friend Klargy falling upon him, masking the arrow and rapier attacks that brought him to his death in said bathroom.
Players are ruthless :'(

I’ve been binging this series and taking tons of notes on reference cards ready for my second session on Monday. Do you plan to continue it with the same structure based on one of the published hardback adventures when this is finished, or to do a guide to choosing a follow on adventure?
