I think this worked out really well. Its good to have enough of the movie in the background as you do so I can make sure my sync is good. It worked well enough that when I lost my amazon feed I was able to bring it up and sync again pretty easily with your background. I am OK with you leaving the sound on, some reactors take off the sound (using headphones of some type) and I then use my source material sound which is fine. Just a few points from your questions: Once they were in the arena, Finnik stopped Katniss from killing him by showing him Haymitch's bracelet (the one he had just got from Effie). Its possibly a throwaway scene but isn't because both tokens come into play in the arena! Prior to that Peeta came out of the individual assessment before Katniss and he is an artist. He painted the scene of Rue holding the flowers not only for Katniss but to essentially stick it to the capital that they are getting off by watching children be murdered. It was quite elegant actually although subtle. I do think this is an amazing film. I like the next two as they are essential to tying the story together but No 2. is also my favorite as many have told you.
