Added 2023-12-14 17:21:24 +0000 UTCI'm a big fan of Nuclear energy, and I'm about to go on a little journey to learn more about it. What are your thoughts on Nuclear?
I hope you enjoy this episode! Thank you very much for supporting on Patreon! The sickers are coming out soon!

Definitely check out the Containers podcast. It’s been off the air for a few years, but it was excellent. Also, decentralized command! I think you guys would both really like Gen. Bruce Clark’s “Guidelines for a Leader and Commander.” It is weirdly applicable. And finally, community/government/building design: “A Pattern Language” and “A Timeless Way of Building” by Alexander et Al. They are hefty books, but absolutely worth reading/perusing.

2024-01-23 22:45:51 +0000 UTCI have been nuclear power generation field for 23 , 6 years in the Navy and 17 in commercial nuclear power. Very excited to see the Smarter every day episodes. If you haven't seen "Pandora's Promise" it is a great video on Nuclear power.most interesting part was how much energy remains in the spent fuel currently stored on site at all the nuclear power plants.
2024-01-14 00:57:35 +0000 UTCSad to know China is the first nation to roll out a commercial 4th gen plant.
2024-01-08 08:34:16 +0000 UTCVery much looking forward to Destin’s nuclear energy series. If I may, there is a YT Channel - “Illinois EnergyProf”. Where basic lectures:presentations are provided, he covers basics of understanding radiation, nuclear fission and different generations of power plants. Plus covers the three major meltdowns and also has bit of an introduction to fusion and plasma which I think is their research specialty.
2024-01-07 22:43:28 +0000 UTCRespectfully Matt, but electric can be quite efficient at heating with a heat pump. I remodeled my little home and put in a mini split instead of the baseboards. My electric bill in the winter hits $130. Ac during the summer tops out at $160. Granted, it is a small house, around 1,000 sq.ft, but I wouldn't take a larger house with a not proportional higher gas bill.
2023-12-22 21:42:03 +0000 UTCAnother fantastic episode guys. Looking forward to the new video Destin, it’s a great topic. I wanted to ask- have you guys had any conversation around doing another meetup for next year’s eclipse? Asking for a friend.
