PSA: Tipping Generously Is Important...

...also, are there some weird social dynamics evolving around giving a tip?

Thanks for supporting this little corner of the Internet - you don't have to, but you do, and that's never lost on us.

I think I generally agree with your conclusions about tipping. I especially agree with the frustration of tax time! I have already made mistakes on my taxes, and received letters from the IRS telling me what additional amounts I need to pay, plus the fines for getting it wrong the first time. Maybe I should just never file taxes, and treat the fine as the cost for having the IRS do it for me?

Getting caught up on my episodes, and this was really interesting. I grew up in the US, but I currently live in Ireland where all the taxes and the wages are calculated into any price you see, so that what you see is exactly what you pay, and tipping is not expected and is often not even an option. I hugely prefer this because it really puts the emphasis on back on the human reactions, and when you chose to tip someone they know it's because you thought they were amazing or wanted to make their day better. On the flip side, being American, I did spend the first couple of years madly tipping in all the wrong places and sometimes getting very confused looks in the process. 😂
