Here's a link to an awesome binary marble adding machine on the YouTube. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcDshWmhF4A" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcDshWmhF4A</a>

2018-07-29 21:51:37 +0000 UTCI'm a little late to this conversation, but there is a third option that might solve both problems: post it like this on Patreon, but not restricted to donors. Having extra content on your Patreon is a great way to give listeners an easy next step for engagement, and make more people aware of this spot on the internet (your Patreon page), so sending people here for bonus content is great. But I'll agree with Simon, I'd always vote to keep the core content ungated.
2018-07-23 01:06:07 +0000 UTCJoel I agree with you, there's a difference between the infinite mind knowing all the possibilities and the infinite mind choosing one of the possibilities. Just knowing what can happen, but not choosing a timeline still allows free-will and an omniscient and omnipotent being that is not evil and doesn't cause any evil.
2018-07-09 16:30:12 +0000 UTCI don't know the hearts of your friends. But there is a fine line between faith and religion. Faith requires free will. Religion demands blind following. I suspect that many christians are follow by blind religion instead of faith. So free will dosn't make sense. /*Tandent warning*/ :) Then again, maybe many christians, or people for that matter don't know how to love. I know I struggle with this. So to love God seems robotic. The opposite of free will. Logicly, yea. I should love the being who made me. I should love the being who died for me. But that is an emotion that dosn't really come naturally for me. But I guess the desire to do differently than I naturally want to do is free will. And maybe the effort alone is love. Which is where sin comes in. Without sin, without the ability to sin, there is no free will. If we agree that free will is the ability to go against one own's programing, then to freely Love God would require a desire to not love God. Thereby making the emotion to love God difficult. Thereby requiring effort to do so. So does that mean that the effort, that the journey is to love God? It makes Matts recent video make a lot more sense. :) I think I'm talking in circles. :) And that tangent is probably a load of marlercee. I don't know. my brain hurts! :)

2018-07-08 17:21:57 +0000 UTCi was surprised to find out how few of the believers i know take free will as a necessary part of the relationship... not sure if this is --laziness( for lack of a better word ) or if they have somehow justified love through manipulation/control.
2018-07-07 02:05:46 +0000 UTCtotally agree with Simon. You guys do a grabler, maybe you can make an XL/varitey episode of just randomly dropped cuts. Patrons get flare, but content should be for all.
2018-07-07 01:50:24 +0000 UTC(Warning - J Talk, feel free to skip) @Adam - I love that. Especially the second paragraph, the ability to know without having ordained. (My dad explained it as him watching me want a cookie as a young child; seeing the wheels turn inside my head, and knowing exactly what I want, and what I'm going to do; yet not being responsible for that desire and action on my part). It's impossible to capture the fullness of a philosophy in two paragraphs, so I suspect this next bit is probably already covered. I'd love to hear more on this: One aspect of theodicy to which I currently cling is the notion God may have a goal different from merely preventing pain. The end goal may be for each individual to become more like Christ, rather than me just having a comfortable experience on earth. I still acknowledge that free will frequently causes suffering. And I'm even hopeful that God chose the iteration that would cause the least suffering possible in light of his overarching aim. But if the end goal is not preventing or soothing suffering, then I'm no longer asking why God doesn't just "make it all okay." I'm instead looking to see how he might be empowering me to choose to grow. (No, this is not a useful discussion to have with someone in pain. It's more like a vaccine than an antibiotic/pain suppressant.)
2018-07-04 12:43:25 +0000 UTCThere's a huge monkey wrench to that philosophers, (I'm not even going to try to spell his name :) ) idea. Free will. If we have free will, then this being is not choosing which scenario to interact with. By definition, it is us who has to decide which permutation is chosen. This being is merely seeing which permutation we decide to take. Anything less then guiding of our decisions, or hearts, would remove free will.

2018-07-04 04:57:23 +0000 UTCI greatly enjoyed this extra brain candy; it's like a midnight snack after dinner.
2018-07-03 03:24:37 +0000 UTCThis post is a great microcosm of the current content creator struggles mentioned in the podcast. Figuring out how to capture the value of all this content to make the effort sustainable isn't for the faint of heart. Appreciate the bonus content.
2018-07-03 01:52:45 +0000 UTCDefinitely enjoyed it. After reading (I guess it's Destin's) response to Simon, I understand better why you've done this. I agree in principle with Simon, and your explanation makes sense, and I enjoy the extra content. So, thanks.
2018-07-02 23:00:21 +0000 UTCThis is definitely better than not publishing the bonus content. I would still prefer it if you could publish it somehow public.
2018-07-02 22:20:34 +0000 UTCI really appreciate that Simon. The reason we're choosing to do this, is because we always seem to end up with a segment that doesn't quite fit into the flow of the episode, and we have to cut it. It isn't because the segment isn't any good, it's just because something usually has to go. So we could get no use out of that and leave it on the editing room floor, or from time to time we could pass it along as a special thank you to the people who support the show. So again, I really respect where you're coming from and appreciate your thoughtfulness toward people who aren't able to support on patreon, but I think this is a good way to get use out of some bonus content that otherwise would never see the light of day. Please pardon my grammatical sloppiness, I had to bang this one out using voice recognition in my truck.
2018-07-02 22:14:15 +0000 UTCI really enjoyed this conversation. BUT even so, I am a supporter on patreon I don't want exclusive content. I would prefer it if you make all content available for everyone. I don't like the thought that someone is missing something only because he can't afford to support you or just doesn't want to. I think people will continue to support you even without exclusive content. At least that's right for me.
2018-07-02 22:10:05 +0000 UTCOh! So *that's* why the adding machine reference in the podcast show notes is there. I was confused because I didn't remember hearing anything about that in the show. Don't get me wrong; I thoroughly enjoyed the video, it just didn't make sense in the context of the podcast.

2018-07-01 22:05:15 +0000 UTCThis was really interesting. I'm glad it's bonus, but I think it also would have a great part of the published content.
