All the Little Witches, part 135.

Oh yeah - I guess to some people, a hulking monster of unnatural origins, with the dried blood of dead explorers on it's metal fingers might be a little scary?

WD-40 has some lubricants in it, but it's volatile and the oil dissipates in a few weeks. I was trained to use if for cleaning and freeing up gun lock-work, not lubricating. I bought a can of their White Lithium flavor at Mall*Wart last year; things stop squealing for good! They also have a silicone spray -- next shopping trip!

The only thing I use WD for is starting fluid for diesel engines. Never lube anything with it.

However, I was once driving on a northbound highway late at night in winter with no traffic lights or traffic when my hood opened. I pulled over and tried four or five times to slam it shut and it wouldn't catch. I was wondering what to do when I remembered that I had a big can of WD40 in the glove compartment. I sprayed the latch mechanism a lot, waited 30 seconds then slammed the hood shut. It caught. Off I went. The cool thing was, I was driving to a 2600 meeting and now had a hack story to tell them.

This. I was told in the militia repeatedly, never lube a weapon with WD 40.

Unfortunately, while that magic spray has some short-term lubricating properties, it doesn't last very long. Unless you get one of their dedicated lubricants -- which are solid gold!

All the the more reason to keep that spray can handy.

… Sometimes late When things are real And people share the gift of gab Between themselves … Some are quick To take the bait And catch the perfect prize That waits among the shelves … But Oz never did give nothing to the Tin Man That he didn't, didn't already have And 'cause never was the reason for the evening Or the tropic of Sir Galahad
