Feedback Followup

Thanks to everyone who left me good advice and feedback – it was much appreciated. I feel kinda bad for mentioning the last pic in my post because to be honest with you, it really isn't about getting comments or likes or anything like that. It's not about getting attention either (although that's an important part of the social aspect of being an online artist). I was looking for general feedback because lately I feel myself being pulled in different directions. On the one hand, I really enjoy creating fun and dynamic pictures with interesting scenarios or predicaments. On the other hand, I also like producing nicely rendered pin up pictures with detail and shading - but I sometimes feel like when I move in one direction, I lose sight of the other... and I'm just trying to figure out what defines me, and what kind of artist I want to be. Should I value consistency? Or experimentation, for example?

I'm not saying I want to do things differently, or anything like that. This is mostly just a thought process for me to figure out what I value the most and what types of things to prioritize – I'm also hoping these things align with what my fans and patrons want out of me as well. One thing I've been thinking I'm in need of is more gestural practice, and more practice creating poses and figures from my imagination. Reference materials can be useful (and even invaluable) as an artist, but relying on them too much can also produce stiff images and stifle growth. I've felt myself experiencing that lately, so maybe I just need a bit of reorientation in my practice to get back to a space where I can feel myself learning and growing again.

Thanks for all your input and involvement with me, and most of all thanks for your support! I wouldn't be able to have the space and time to do any of these things without it! Look forward to more art in the near future!

Plus seeing most of your art you do not lack imagination at all so I think it would be good idea if you kept on exploring what you're capable of. Trust me whatever style you pick or whatever changes you do, you would still be recognized with your own style. lol

Life is learning experience, Its always good to master what you know in consistency. However, you would want to be creative, so I say go ahead and be adventures and explore, you arent really going two direction, you are going ONE direction, and that's up, you're learning more things to add to what you ALREADY know.

Aware of both. I think above all else I want some consistency and growth. Gonna try to incorporate more daily practice exercises into my work regimen and see where that takes me over the course of some time.

Have you heard of Kuvshinov Ilya or ZERONIS? They are two artists who I feel are masters of their craft. Despite that, Zeronis makes constant changes to his lighting and technique (usually includes several variations for each of his final pieces), while Ilya has recently been going full blown experimental. If you wanted to see how others test themselves, I'd say they are two good examples.
