Development Update September 18th

Why hello there! It is already time for another update post.

First off, let me remind you: itch.io is changing its hosting domain soon (within the next few weeks), which means after this change old save files that have been saved in the local storage of your browser won't work anymore.

Make sure to export any safe files you would like to keep to your disk. If you've played the early access of chapter 4 you've probably already done that. This also affects any other twine-based interactive fiction games you might be following, so make sure to do the same for those.

Next thing I want to talk about: the poly relationship poll! Thank you all for participating. The result is pretty clear-cut: a third would take more time between updates in exchange for a poly option, two thirds would rather have faster updates. I expected as much, to be honest.

For now, I've decided to focus on the individual romances only. However, it's clear that there is interest in a poly option, so that is definetely something I want to include at some point. It will just probably be once everything else is finished. I guess if we get more patreon members, I might run that poll again sometime and see if opinions have changed.

I'd also have to decide who exactly would be in that poly relationship. Az'Lean is almost a given, due to his popularity. Though I'd ultimately let another poll decided that. So who knows which character will be the most popular when the time comes.

On to the progress of chapter 5: at this point, it's around 20k words long. In terms of what I've planned, I'd say that's about a third of it done. Though I also thought chapter 4 would be 60k words long and it ended up being more like 75k. So who knows, really.

The important thing is, things are moving along as planned. I've also started outlining chapter 6 so I know exactly where chapter 5 needs to end. Without spoiling anything, chapter 6 is the one I look forward to writing the most. I'm hoping to finish chapter 5 by the end of October. The non-patrons are still waiting on chapter 4, after all, can't deprive them of new content forever.

Speaking of, I've been running a poll on my tumblr about interest in a discord server. The results are mixed so far, but the poll is still going for another day. I've also been thinking about having the server be members only, but with this few people, I doubt it'd be very active. I don't know, I might just wait and see whether the community grows some more or not.

For now, I'll just focus on writing and not worry too much about the rest.
