Abject failure...

(Not the sketch- that's just a quickie from a recent book sale. :) That's just there 'cause I haven't posted anything arty in a while. :D )

But, looks like I'm not going to make it with the books for Christmas. I was finally hoping to launch on Monday, and I still don't even have a single cover done- and what I have done, I don't really like.

Plus I'm having minor but nonetheless annoying issues with the printer, still keep finding minor issues in the artwork every time I proofread the copies, and I'd have to put in 16 hour days just to release a merely adequate product on Monday.

The week after that is of course Christmas, and within a day or two after Christmas... well, people tend to stop buying things for a while. :)

I don't offer it as an excuse, but I will also note there have been some personal issues that have been absorbing a lot more of my recent clock cycles than I've been letting on- someone close is seriously ill, and I've been doing what I can to help.

I do apologize for the wait- for those few of you actually waiting :D - but I'd rather wait and release a product I'm happy with, not just something that I feel like I slapped together at the last minute. And for that matter, if I launched on Monday, I'd still be printing as the orders came in, and if something went wrong or broke down, I'd be sitting there with orders I might not be able to fill- and I refuse to allow that.

At the moment I'm thinking January 1st (a Wednesday)  or the first Monday (the 6th.) I don't want to put it off too long, since I still plan to do more releases in '20, which if all goes well, should have us more or less caught up by this time next year.

Thank you for your patience, thank you for reading, and as always, have all the happiest of holidays!

Doc.

Family first! Don't worry, I'm sure all your supporters understand. In fact, if you continue to beat yourself up over it I think all the rest us will have to beat YOU up for doing that... :-) Better a healthy artist that think it is fun to do the comic a little less often. Take care Doc and bless you, your family and of course, the comic itself.

Pretty much what everyone else has stated: Real Life Wins. Take care of those you care for- We'll wait. (or at the very least, *I* can wait).

Doc, don't sweat it... At least you let us know... If the stuff doesn't get done until later, it's not a world ender... Unless a black holes is involved, in which case we might get a bit anxious... Other than that, just relax and enjoy the holidays...

JasonAW3

Either you chill out and give us supporters more credit for understanding your situation, Doc... or grow some clones and get busier. Seriously, it's the Holidays and close family and friends take priority. We'll wait.

... what they said, and I'm sorry to hear someone's having health problems. Best wishes to them.

We're just the Internet. Real Life should always trump that.

I think anyone who's read through The Longest Day and still looked forward to each installment with anticipation knows the value of patience. We'll be fine boss.

Do what you NEED to, Doc... we would rather have a happy artist than one who is begrudging of what he's doing... and as others pointed out, work-life balance. Work will always be there, life, not so much.

So we will have something to look forward to after Christmas, too? Hallelujah!!!! ALso, budget is getting low, so wouldn't have been able to order until January anyway with the high shipping costs...

Trygve Henriksen

We'd rather a good product then a quick one 🤗

Scott Anderson

Take time for those close to you!

'Work-life' balance must always be heavier on the 'life' side, especially when family or friends are put onto the scales. And I suspect the books will be just as appreciated (and treasured) if they are available after Christmas as they would have been if they were on sale before Christmas.
