For a little while there, we were past the next milestone marker, whereupon I promised to make a series of videos showing how I go about making the wonderment that is TWB.
Since then we've dropped back down below that, but I'm not gonna nitpick, I'm gonna make 'em anyway. :)
I've been- and continue to be- chronically short on spare time (my to-do list is roughly four times longer than I can be expected to live :) ) but I made the time recently to build myself a new computer desk, in large part to make some of this day-to-day work a little more pleasant.
I decided while I had the bandsaws out, the welders hot, and was already slackin' off on other work, I'd whip up one of the tidbits I had in mind for this little video project. That's it, up there. Above the one polar bear and below the other. :)
There's a build-blog thread over on the Guild if you want to see more of the nuts and bolts, but basically it's a heavily overbuilt mount for a small hi-def video camera, to hold it over my tablet. It clips to the existing shelf rails I already had up, and is easily removable when I'm not using it.
Yes, I probably could have done the same thing with a $10 tripod, but hey, I'm Doc, dammit. :)
Why the little palmcorder? Well, because I already had it. It's lightweight, and the battery lasts forever- and it's new enough to use the newer 'ultra-high density' cards, so I should be able to shoot at least four hours of video at a sitting.
I could have gotten away with a typical webcam- and at some point I may well do just that. I didn't want to just use screen-capture software (though I may use that at times) as I like the idea of seeing the hand and pen motion.
(Plus I have some gags planned that you can't do with screen-capture software. :) )
So, hopefully in the next couple of weeks, I can get at least one probably-no-better-than-mediocre preliminary video up, and after that, hopefully do more, and get better at them. :)
And as always, thanks for reading!
Doc.
